JOB MISSION:
As a Chemical Engineer on the Innovation team you will be focused on research, development and standardization of breakthrough materials and products. You will work with the extended Innovation and Asia Chemistry teams to establish state of the art processes and compound formulations that solve a range of engineering problems. You will be primarily focused on foam and rubber technology, sustainable products and chemistry and chemical process development.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Develop strong relationships with our supply chain partners to stay abreast of new technology. Attend material and machine shows to ensure the team has visibility to the state of the art.
• Serve as the project manager of new chemistry developments by ensuring goals are defined and achieved, managing timelines and costs, and ensuring performance criteria is validated.
• Support Costing, Quality and Inline development teams in the commercialization of new material innovations. Assist in the validation of compound quality and best practices for cementing on Innovation projects throughout the supply chain.
• Manage the roll-out and duplication of new products to our global factories and coordinate the implementation of products with regional supply chain teams. In concert with the Manager of Innovation you will create clear objectives and priorities for the Asia chemistry team.
• Lead research, experimentation, proprietary formulation development, and testing & validation of compounds and materials. You will work closely with the Asia Chemistry team and chemical & adhesive suppliers from a formulation stage to commercialization. You will ensure products are either compatible with traditional process (molding, extrusion, calendaring, adhesive bonding systems, paints, etc.) or develop new process.

Flexible Work Schedule

For decades we have fostered a unique culture founded on our values with a particular focus on in-person teamwork and collaboration. Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced “Work from Anywhere” (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year. This model will help us enhance our culture while continuing to maintain elements of flexibility.
