Job Summary:

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a crucial member of the healthcare team responsible for providing direct care and assistance to patients in healthcare facilities, such as hospitals or long-term care facilities. This role involves administering medications, monitoring patients' well-being, and providing support in daily activities to ensure optimal patient care and comfort.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide emotional support and communicate effectively with patients and their families
• Observe patients for any adverse reactions or side effects to medications
• Collaborate with nurses and physicians to create customized care plans for patients
• Uphold a compassionate and empathetic approach towards patients, promoting patient dignity and respect
• Administer prescribed medications to patients and ensure accurate dosage and timing
• Assist patients with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting
• Document patients' health status and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team effectively to provide comprehensive care
• Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, ensuring infection control protocols are followed
• Adhere to legal and ethical standards, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
• Monitor vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate
• Assist in mobility and transfer of patients, following proper lifting and safety protocols
• Follow facility policies and procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
• Respond promptly to patients' calls, ensuring their needs and requests are met promptly
• Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and stay updated with healthcare practices

Qualifications and Skills:

• Proficient in administering medications and familiar with different routes of administration
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Medication Aide (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping
• Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility and perform manual tasks
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach towards patient care
• Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare practices
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
