Cash Posting Coordinator


Position Summary:

At Stony Brook Medicine the Cash Posting Coordinator will provide operational support within the hospital’s Patient Accounting Department. The position will act as senior support for staff within the Cash Management Unit of the Hospital’s Business Office. Day-to-day work functions include leading staff posting, payment processing, follow-up, payment reconciliation and financial reporting.


Duties of a Cash Posting Coordinator may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the supervision of electronic and manual cash posting processes, cash reconciliations, and control account management.
  • Supervise Due To and Due From payments between Southampton and Eastern Long Island hospitals.
  • Research payment discrepancies and follow-up with bank, insurance companies, and third-party vendors.
  • Oversee the patient refund process and the research of credit balances. .
  • Oversee the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of staff posting and automated payment processing in accordance SB Business Office policies and procedures.
  • Support the supervisor in scheduling, timesheet, leave requests, performance programs and evaluations.
  • Communicate with various level of staff and management inside and outside the organization.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of solutions to address issues and mitigate compliance risk.
  • Proficient with the creation and manipulation of spreadsheets and data management.
  • Provide direction, training, and guidance to support effective teamwork and make recommendation to improve policy and procedures for the unit, as well as the office.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or related field and at least 2 years' health care revenue cycle.
  • In lieu of a degree, at least 4 years' of health care revenue cycle / billing / follow-up / cash management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of commercial billing and governmental billing.
  • Experience with processing refunds for patient & insurance.
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle and/or business office procedures.
  • Experience with cash management including but not limited to balancing, reviewing, reconciliation, and understanding EOBs.
  • Experience in insurance verification.

.Posting Overview: This position will remain posted until filled or for a maximum of 90 days. An initial review of all applicants will occur two weeks from the posting date. Candidates are advised on the application that for full consideration, applications must be received before the initial review date (which is within two weeks of the posting date).

If within the initial review no candidate was selected to fill the position posted, additional applications will be considered for the posted position; however, the posting will close once a finalist is identified, and at minimal, two weeks after the initial posting date.   • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
