Normal Work Schedule: 7:30a-4p
Job Summary: Under moderate supervision, performs skilled work at the journeyman level in the carpentry trade involving the construction, maintenance, repair and installation of a variety of physical structures and fixtures. Must drive from site to site. Provides work leadership to other trades personnel. Must drive from site to site.
Required Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of six (6) years paid work experience as a journeyman level Carpenter. Must have some supervisory/work leadership experience. Must be able to interpret and work from sketches, specifications, plans, and blueprints. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job. Must be able to perform those items in the Job Summary and the essential functions. Must have the ability to use job-related tools and equipment and chemical supplies. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. May be required to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License within 6 months employment.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
