The Card Solutions Director leads all aspects of the card division including but not limited to sales, account management, implementations/onboarding, operations, training, and support. This role drives performance of our card programs for significant growth with focus on new client card programs, retention, and growth of existing client card programs, spend growth and accelerating interchange income while ensuring a world-class client experience.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Oversees the end-to-end management of the small business card, business debit and commercial card programs, partnering with Product Management for development of new products, pricing strategies, marketing initiatives, and risk management while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Defines and upholds a world-class client experience with our card programs.
  • Implements robust controls and processes to mitigate risks and safeguard customer assets.
  • Drives pipeline management to achieve established sales and account management goals.
  • Maintains strategic partnerships within external network for purpose of new business generation and awareness of changes that may impact card program performance and spend trends.
  • Develops and implements strategies to maximize profitability, reduce risk, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive landscape related to commercial card services while leveraging this knowledge to make informed business decisions to establish and maintain HTLF's competitive edge.
  • Monitors and analyzes program performance, financial metrics, and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies related to commercial card operations, information security, fraud prevention, and data privacy
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive strategic vision for card, aligned with HTLF’s overall business objectives.
  • Establishes performance KPIs across the card division and holds team accountable to reach KPI Targets/Goals for performance and sales metrics.
  • Identifies and pursues business development opportunities to expand HTLF’s business and commercial card customer base while fostering partnerships with internal stakeholders to increase revenue and market share.
  • Drives innovation and identifies opportunities to enhance program offerings and market position.


Secondary Responsibilities


  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Completes annual E-Learning Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training as assigned and keeps up-to-date knowledge of BSA as it relates to the job function.


Management Responsibilities


  • Works with department staff on individual professional development and career development opportunities. Facilitates team members in creating individual goals and development plans that align with the department goals.
  • Prepares and conducts annual performance reviews within established deadlines.
  • Addresses and resolves all performance concerns and issues in a timely manner.
  • Works with HTLF's Talent Acquisition team to identify and hire the most qualified and talented individuals to fill open positions.
  • Provides information and on-going feedback to department staff regarding expectations and performance, salary adjustments and/or promotions.


Qualifications


  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and business acumen, with a focus on driving revenue growth and profitability required
  • Strong understanding of business card products, business debit product, commercial card products, payment systems, and industry best practices required
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and market insights to inform decision-making required
  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance or 10+ years of work experience at a financial institution within Card (business, not retail) required
  • 7-10 years of leadership experience within Card required
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve organizational goals required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels and provide executive-level presentations regarding Card Services Division performance required
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Purchasing Card Professional (CPCP), Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) are desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards governing commercial card programs required
  • 10+ years in commercial card operations, sales, product management, or related roles within the financial services industry (in leadership strongly preferred)


Travel Expectation


  • This role is expected to travel to each market each least twice per year. These meetings will be representatives within the card services team and local leadership to drive pipeline activities, discuss card services team performance metrics, discuss market performance against card sales and account management goals, potentially host key client events related to Card, and assist in providing performance management activities including coaching, training and accountability discussions regarding performance to goal measurement.
  • Up to 40% (could be more or less depending on purpose for travel such as conference attendance or performance management issues, etc.)
  • This leadership role is expected to represent HTLF at industry conferences either as attendee, panel discussion participant, or leader of a discussion/presenter and is on point for identifying potential new business relationship opportunities and bringing industry insights back from the conference to the card services team and ELT. (Visa, NAPCP, AFP, CPI and provider conferences are examples.)

$182,595.00 - $237,373.00
