Camp Counselor Jobs

YMCA of Southwest Florida is looking for CAMP COUNSELORS! Come spend your summer in sunny Florida building a community, making youth and teens’ dreams come true, creating lifelong friendships, and learning skills that will serve you in any career.

Essential Functions:

• Other job-related duties as assigned may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.
• Develops and fosters interpersonal relationships with participants and caregiver/families; proactively creates a positive, welcoming environment of cooperation, friendliness, and helpfulness towards staff and customers.
• Executes high quality, age-appropriate activities for enrolled participants.
• Responsible for the physical safety of the participants at all times, including understanding and being able to implement emergency procedures as necessary.
• Establishes structure and routines for participants by setting boundaries and behavior guidelines.
• Documents attendance, absenteeism, and incidents for each child in compliance with state/county/district requirements

Qualifications:

• Successfully complete DCF Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening.
• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Able to adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy.
• Prior experience working with children.

Certifications and Trainings:

• 8 hours of YMCA of Southwest Florida Association Day Camp training
• Annual completion of YMCA’s Child Abuse and Neglect training
• 30 hours of YMCA Day Camp Curriculum, Policy, and Procedure training
• CPR and First Aid Certifications required
• Annual completion of YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training
