Job Description
This recruitment will be used to fill three part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Peer Mentor positions for The Center for Advancing Financial Education (CAFE) at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Center for Advancing Financial Education (CAFE) is seeking to hire and train Peer Mentors as paid interns who will work with incoming families and students on their college finances at each virtual and in-person START session (orientation for new students). Additionally, the internship team will support the day-to-day CAFE duties which include presentations/workshops, one-on-one paying for college meetings, TA support, and more. This unique experience will build in professional development and team building opportunities as well!

CAFE, housed in the Oregon State University College of Business, seeks to provide equitable access to financial education and advice and support to elevate financial well-being within the OSU community and across Oregon. CAFE provides resources around basic financial literacy to the OSU community and the state.

CAFE Peer Mentor Interns will work hard to train over Spring Term, participating in comprehensive paying for college/basic financial literacy training; there will be on-going training throughout their CAFE career. They will utilize their skills and knowledge to educate their peers and families, specifically, ones at START and our regular CAFE clientele. They will meet one-on-one, provide workshops and presentations both at OSU and beyond, help with CAFE’s BA 140 course (Financial Literacy for College Life), and other special financial literacy related tasks.
We will hire multiple candidates for this role – and we wish to target students from colleges across campus to join our Internship Team. Consideration for this role goes to students who plan to work in Corvallis. Future Peer Mentors must understand that there is a lot to learn and a lot of training that will be on-going throughout your tenure. New hires will need to be an independent worker, fast learner, interested and excited about the topic, and a team player.

The pay rate is $14.50 per hour.
