Job Summary


This position is responsible for coordinating purchasing for Minneapolis College materials, supplies, services, and equipment and will assist in defining the department’s needs through specification development and value analysis. This position will be responsible for ensuring the proper administration of the State of Minnesota, MinnState, and the Minneapolis College purchasing policies and procedures and ensures that the College’s fixed asset inventory practices comply with MinnState policy.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct and manage all College fixed asset activities and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
  • Provide training and direction to all staff to ensure that the College's purchasing policies, procedures and guidelines are being followed.
  • Plan, develop and implement the most effective method of procurement to ensure suitability of supplies and equipment in relation to price, quality and specifications to meet the needs of all College personnel according to College, MinnState, and Minnesota State policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong computer experience with programs such as Microsoft Office; specifically Excel and Word.
  • Knowledgeable with legal requirements as to form, execution, and compliance with State & Federal laws and to integrate SWIFT as well as College’s procurement systems with the procedures utilized by MinnState for Contract & Procurement administration.
  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency, incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
  • Knowledge of inventory control methods.
  • Capacity to handle a large volume of work while providing competent service and communication.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills sufficient to establish effective working relationships with managers, staff, and vendors.
  • Highly developed communication skills to communicate with staff related to policies and procedures related to purchasing and contracts.

Physical Requirements

Be able to sit for long periods of time. Lift up to 15 lbs.

Current and / or former employees must be in good standing at Minneapolis College for consideration
