Join a team of Business Services Consultants to assist area businesses find workforce solutions and support Wisconsin residents with disabilities achieve their employment goals.

The Division for Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is looking for one full-time permanent Business Services Consultant in North Central Wisconsin (WDA 6). DVR maintains 11 Workforce Development Areas (WDAs) across the state where teams of DVR staff work together to assist Wisconsin residents with disabilities achieve their employment goals.

The person hired into this position can choose a headquarter location in Rhinelander, Stevens Point, Wausau, or Wisconsin Rapids. See all DVR office locations. Applicants will be asked to select their preferred headquarter location(s) during the application process.

The Business Services Consultant position includes a blend of remote work, community-based work, and work from a headquarter location. A typical day might involve travel to a business location in the community, a local Job Center or a DVR office, coupled with the opportunity for remote work. Frequent local travel is required, in addition to occasional travel to other locations in the state (training, conference attendance, etc.). Mileage reimbursement is available while in travel status. The reimbursement amount will be based on distance traveled from the headquarter location.

This recruitment may be used to fill future similar permanent, project, and/or LTE vacancies.

Position Summary


The Business Services Consultants (BSC) will engage in outreach to Wisconsin businesses within the assigned WDA, learn about business needs and challenges, inform businesses about the opportunity to connect to and benefit from DVR talent, connect businesses to additional workforce resources, and craft solutions and services that meet business expectations and needs. The BSC will offer consultation, information, and support to DVR teams regarding labor market information, industry sector needs, business expectations, and employment opportunities. In partnership with businesses, the BSC will forge solutions to business workforce needs for disability-specific information and services, such as how to connect with talent, training opportunities, tax incentives, services available through DWD and other workforce partners, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and strategies to enhance diversity and inclusion. The overarching purpose of DVR Business Services is to positively impact employment of individuals with disabilities and meet WI business' need for talent and other workforce solutions. Salary Information


Starting salary is between $51,438-$56,638 annually depending on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits. For more benefits information, view our benefits overview, or more in-depth benefits e-learning.

A 12-month probationary period will be required. The classification title for this position is Employment and Training Specialist (schedule 12, range 64). This position is not represented in a collective bargaining unit and is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.

Qualifications

You will need to have experience in:

  • Organizing and prioritizing tasks to successfully manage a workload
  • Promoting products, services, or programs to businesses and workforce/community partners (i.e., recruitment, sales/marketing, account manager, or other relevant experience)
  • Working in collaboration with teams or groups to accomplish shared goals
  • Effectively communicating with others from a variety of backgrounds
  • Working with employment processes to find talent, retain talent, and/or ensure appropriate staffing (ie; hiring, talent acquisition/recruitment, employment specialist services, helping individuals obtain/retain employment, supporting diversity/equity/inclusion programs, etc.)
  • Establishing and developing relationships with businesses

It would be nice to have experience in any of the following:

  • Using labor market information (LMI) to inform decisions
  • Delivering/sharing information with employers and community partners through presentations and trainings
  • Developing solutions to disability and employment-related issues, or other barriers to employment-such as accommodations, training, accessibility
  • Working with individuals with disabilities (paid or unpaid)
