Job Description
Senior level position in the Business Program Management Organization supporting Insurance vertical markets. Responsible for the leadership of projects or programs that have a high degree of complexity and that may be comprised of multiple projects, led by individual project managers across functional areas. Has primary responsibility for delivery of assigned programs and projects within acceptable timeframes and adherence to high quality standards. Drives program or projects to completion and is critical to creating an environment of rapid decision making in areas such as risk/revenue/impact. May negotiate project critical issues and decisions from the end customer. May be point of contact for the market vertical and manages expectations via the Product Roadmap. Must ensure best practices and resources are leveraged across the business and/or assigned critical customers; modified to ensure successful domestic or international expansion. The Program Manager will lead multiple projects, collaborating with groups of project managers. May involve the management of an acquisition integration or large business case, interfacing with multiple project managers from different areas, with several related projects; or may manage a portfolio of complex projects for key customer accounts, with multiple PMs (including customer teams) and several enterprise projects.
Accountabilities
  • Identifies and makes recommendations for improvement to existing processes and procedures
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders/customers across divisions (may include external customers) to maximize program effectiveness and influence. Develop and lead cultural change efforts to integrate program elements into the broader culture.
  • Deliver assigned projects on schedule aligned with the critical needs of the business vertical or external customer
  • Leadership responsibility or mentoring/ coaching for a group of project managers assigned to a program
  • Manage all phases of the project per established process. Ensure a holistic view by coordinating with and monitoring all impacted business processes across development, sales/marketing, product, professional services/implementation, support, etc.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and regulations.
  • Ability to negotiate and communicate with various functions (ie. sales, marketing, customer service, billing, royalties and testing organizations and personnel) and customer teams, if applicable
  • Maintain ownership of and accountability for the project and/or program schedule. Construct the Work Breakdown Structure for the project/program.
  • Consult on project management inside/outside of our organization. May include cultural awareness to ensure international relationships are established and maintained. Responsible for effective negotiation and communicate across multiple functional areas and levels; may involve external customer teams
  • May establish/maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) / Best Practice Processes to be leveraged across domestic/international initiatives.
  • Allocates resources to projects and accounts; responsible for balancing team
  • Mentor members of the Program Management organization including other Project Managers as well as project teams on project management techniques and methodology
  • Manage project across a geographically and culturally diverse organization and travel as needed.
  • Expert in all aspects of the Project Management Body of Knowledge: demonstrate an ability to tailor the balance of scope, schedule, and resources against the needs of the project and overall business strategy.
  • Overall understanding of the business strategies as they apply to individual verticals and customer organizations
  • Provide periodic status reports to management and provide senior level presentations on program status which may include milestone achievements, financials, progress of deliverables, risks and issues
  • May negotiate with technology or other functional areas for project resources
Qualifications
  • Successfully demonstrated leadership experience in a fast-paced environment, with frequent and substantial priority changes, challenging timelines and major resource constraints is desired -Ability to operate independently and innovate.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across a highly matrixed organization, interacting, influencing, negotiating effectively with all levels of leadership and peers
  • Professionalism and strong consultative skills.
  • Demonstrated experience to executive level audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively through others and interface persuasively with other individuals throughout the organization: a team player.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • A results-oriented outlook with the ability to prioritize and deliver key initiatives.
  • The intellectual capacity that ensures credibility when dealing with business leaders.
  • Enterprise Change Management certification - Prosci's ADKAR preferred
  • 8+ years of project management experience leading large cross-functional projects
  • A take-charge and decisive person capable of leading large scale initiatives.
  • Systems development, product development, and/or project/product management that includes hands on experience in project planning, reporting, and prioritization is required -Demonstrated expertise with project software planning tools
  • PMI certification preferred -Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification strongly preferred
  • The ability to lead in a rapidly changing organization.
  • Agile Certification (DAD or SAFe) preferred
  • Excellent consultative, communication, and analytical skills
