Pay Range
$123,960 - $159,168 Annually for the SES.2 level
$148,650 - $190,932 Annually for the SES.3 level
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

We have an opening for a Business Intelligence Developer. You will be responsible for all phases of the software development lifecycle (analysis, design, and implementation). You will work closely with peer developers and business experts to create and optimize data loading processes and visualize enterprise reporting across the Laboratory. This position is in the Enterprise Application Services Division within the Computing Directorate, in support of the LivIT Program.
This position will be filled at either the SES.2 or SES.3 level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned, if hired, at the higher level.
Telecommuting options are available for this position.
In this role you will
Provide application development and maintenance for all phases of the software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, and implementation.
Design, develop, and implement MicroStrategy Reports and Dossiers in collaboration with project team members, consultants, and business stakeholders.
Gather functional requirements, develop Business Intelligence (BI) solution architecture, design dashboards (Dossiers), and ad-hoc reports in collaboration with business stakeholders.
Provide input to project plans that include estimates of tasks, duties and technologies for future releases and write technical documentation.
Provide end user support and problem diagnosis and resolution.
Participate in cross-organizational activities in collaboration with a diverse user community.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities at the SES.3 Level
Design, implement, and maintain complex ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes to integrate various data sources for enterprise reporting.
Provide advanced SQL tuning skills for complex queries, ETL’s, and data processing.
Provide database and MicroStrategy architecture.
Qualifications
Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Proficient in MicroStrategy Schema design and data warehouse design.
Broad experience working with complex MicroStrategy reports using advanced filters, level metrics, and transformation metrics.
Broad experience building, troubleshooting, and optimizing cubes and writing SQL queries to validate reports and dashboards.
Broad experience identifying and analyzing source data and mapping required metrics and hierarchies using the MicroStrategy semantic layer.
Proficient interpersonal skills necessary to effectively collaborate as part of a cohesive development team working with multiple customers and organizations simultaneously with time constraints.
Proficient written and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively prepare, present and explain technical information to others.
Additional Qualifications at the SES.3 Level
Advanced knowledge of dimensional data modeling, data warehouse, and reporting techniques.
Advanced experience with MicroStrategy architecture and design.
Advanced experience developing ETL processes within Oracle database environments and non-Oracle environments using SQL Server, MySQL, File Transfer, or similar technologies.
Qualifications We Desire
Working knowledge of Atlassian Jira, Confluence, or other collaboration/planning tools.
Experience with Denodo or other data virtualization technologies.
Experience with Agile methodologies.

This is a Flexible Term appointment, which is for a definite period not to exceed six years. If final candidate is a Career Indefinite employee, Career Indefinite status may be maintained (should funding allow).

Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
