Business Intelligence Analyst Job Responsibilities

Business Intelligence Analyst responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Stakeholder Communications & Relationship Building:

• Maintain positive relationships
• Communicate reporting needs to the BI Development team
• Coordinate with business units to define reporting requirements, issues, needs, and deadlines
• Act as a liaison between business units, analysts, and developers

Reporting Assistance:

• Handle reporting needs accurately and efficiently
• Share best practices with business units and perform reporting audits
• Assist business units with writing SQL queries and creating reports in Power BI

Maintain Team Documentation:

• Maintain internal team standards for projects and reports
• Collect and store reporting information related to requests from business units
• Assist with the creation of training materials for business units

Project Management Experience:

• Assists with making decisions to move project forward
• Keeps relevant stakeholders up to date on project status (includes BI Analysts, BI Developers, business stakeholders)
• Ensures project requirements are thorough, accurate, and up to date
• Tracks project benchmarks and milestones
• Assists with planning and scoping projects

Business Intelligence Analyst Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

• At least 5 years of relevant job experience
• Four-year degree in related field or equivalent work experience
• Project management experience

Technical Skills & Experience:

• Experience writing SQL
• Experience with BI software, preferably Power BI

Professional Skills:

• Strong desire to collaborate with internal team members and other departments throughout the company
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to take leadership of multiple projects and accommodate frequent interruptions and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience (not required)

Professional Experience:

• Experience in working with enterprise Business Intelligence teams
• Cross-functional project coordination

Technical Skills:

• Familiarity with the following tools: Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.), Azure DevOps, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
• Advanced SQL
• Familiarity with statistical analysis and research methodologies
• Advanced proficiency with DAX
• Advanced proficiency in Excel

Data Experience:

• Familiarity with Kimball methodology
• Data validation, data warehouse QA, and/or report auditing experience
• Comfortability working with large amounts of e-commerce data
