Job-Overview


The Service Division is looking for a talented Business Intelligence Analyst to join the Service Analytics department. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical/technical skillset, a background working with large datasets, and experience consulting with senior leaders to solve business problems.


Position Summary:


The Data & BI Analyst II is responsible for providing actionable insights to support business decisions. They work in collaboration with other analysts and stakeholders on the formulation of appropriate analytic approach to solve ambiguous business problems.

Essential Functions:


  • Build and maintain a strong knowledge of data sets available to the analyst. Extract, cleanse and transform data to support analysis needs. Pressure test and validate logic and outputs against known sources and business acumen. Proactively identify data quality issues.
  • Provide actionable insights to support business decisions, primarily by performing root cause, exploratory, sensitivity and scenario analysis, hypothesis testing, economic modeling, and data visualization to identify patterns/trends/insights etc. on ambiguous business problems
  • Develop and manage business relationships with project team members and leaders across the organization. Consult with business owners to understand the business problem. Collaborate with to identify the appropriate analytic approach to solve the problem.
  • Define business and data requirements for analytic deliverables and serve as liaison with IS support teams. Lead collaboration with IDM for data improvements and proactively identify data enhancements in conjunction with division data stewards.
  • Document, monitor, and proactively recommend improvements to processes and controls related to areas of responsibility.
  • Independently generate and incorporate insights into a cohesive story that clearly addresses business questions. Effectively communicate with business partners and non- technical audience regarding analytic ideas, approach, key takeaways, and actionable insights.
  • Understand and apply beginning statistical concepts.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of division results & key business drivers, as well as an understanding of key business strategies & priorities, apply business knowledge to analytic approach to address business questions.
  • Serve as a technical and functional data subject matter expert
  • Lead the development and monitoring of KPIs and benchmarks. Ability to communicate results to senior leaders.

Occasionally lead cross-functional teams responsible for divisional objectives or assist with the onboarding of other data analysts
  • Accountable for own contributions Provides informal guidance to new team members

  • Ability to identify the question(s), what data is needed, analyze and interpret the results to recommend solutions to senior & executive division leaders for a broad spectrum of business improvement opportunities in a clear and concise manner. Execute on projects of a moderate complexity which involve cross-functional teams, collaborate well with associates and leadership throughout the division (and potentially firm leadership and/or external vendors)
  • Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents
  • Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems; analyzes information and standard practices to make judgments
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

While there are no direct supervisory responsibilities, coordinating with others to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines will be required, and may be asked to occasionally mentor and train other associates on the team. Influence decision making, by gaining a deep understanding of inter-departments/divisions interactions the impact on firm operations and initiatives

Skills-Requirements


Experience Required:


  • At least 2 years of analytics experience
  • 3-5 years' experience in relevant field
Education Required:


  • Advanced Degree or Certification preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in business, economics, math, engineering, or analytics preferred (or relevant work experience)
Functional Knowledge:


  • Requires conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within a job discipline
  • Experience with data manipulation languages, such as SQL, required
  • Proficiency interacting with various database and file storage systems (e.g. Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL)
  • Understanding of join types
  • Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities
