Job Description
Business Education Teacher
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal and CTE Director, to develop students' business skills as well as an understanding of our American business system and its place in the nation's and world's economy and to encourage students to develop work and personal habits essential for success in business.
Essential Functions
  • Be reflective about higher practices
  • Demonstrate knowledge of student's developmental characteristics
  • Identify student performance goals that are measurable and suitable for the diverse needs of students
  • Use educational research as a basis to set goals
  • Present opportunities for different types of learning
  • Demonstrate knowledge of content in business, marketing, sales and entrepreneurship
  • Promote conceptual understanding of content
  • Maintain accurate student records related to assignments, progress, and non-instructional data
  • Communicate about instruction and student performance with parents/guardians and students in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pedagogy related to content
  • Select instructional goals that represent high expectation for student performance
  • Design coherent instruction, based on adopted District curricula and aligned with CTE CIP profiles
  • Select appropriate resources for student use and instructional purposes
The Classroom Environment
  • Create a classroom and school environment that promotes mutual respect within the school community
  • Monitor and appropriately respond to student behavior
  • Establish a learning environment that communicates high expectations of performance for all students
  • Utilize fiscal and human resources to implement a real world business environment in the CTE classroom/lab
  • Maximize instructional time
  • Set clear expectations for student behavior
  • Organize the classroom to ensure that students have save and equal access to the learning
Instruction
  • Grouping in multiple ways for a variety of purposes (individual, flexible groups, and whole class)
  • Give accurate information through oral & written communications
  • Assess the achievement of students using multiple and varied assessment techniques
  • Work to create interventions or extensions that maximize student learning
  • Create activities and assignments that actively involve student sin learning
  • Provide students with timely feedback that is accurate, substantive, constructive and specific
  • Communicate clearly when giving student directions
  • Use a variety of instructional materials and resources including available technology
  • Permit student choice and initiative; encourage depth over breadth
  • Engage students in learning by relating content to prior knowledge and using a variety of instructional strategies
  • Use inquiry and discussion techniques that promote engagement of all students in higher order thinking
  • Require student thinking; show relevancy and authenticity
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Career & Technical Education and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications Profile

Certification/License:

  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • State Certification as required for position.
Education:
  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Experience:
  • 3+ years of related industry experience preferred.
  • Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

Pay Rate: Follow Negotiated Pay Rate (See Teacher's Agreement)
