Job Description
Key aspects for this position are selling and brand-building the DAOU portfolio of wines to existing customers, developing new key accounts, and collaborating with our distributor partners. The Business Development Manager should think like an owner and is accountable for a sustainable record of sales achievements accomplished with a broad knowledge of DAOU’s wines, philosophy, and policies, as well as the competitive landscape.
Core Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Management
  • Cultivate strong relationships with the distributor, DAOU marketing team, and key customers.
  • Work “on the street” in your assigned market a minimum of 4 ½ days per week making account calls independently in all premise accounts or alongside distributor sales staff.
  • Work alongside NE Division & NY Metro Manager to implement and oversee monthly plans, goals, quotas, and new item roll outs in each market and participate in regular meetings with key distributor personnel. Diligently track distributor inventory.
  • Detailed understanding of ins and outs of ON and OFF Premise prestige accounts in Manhattan.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding DAOU’s all on/off premise sales objectives including national account compliance, execution of marketing programs, and attainment of profit goals.
  • Consistently call on key accounts to implement and review our brand program priorities with an emphasis on follow up and execution.
  • Achieve or exceed annual accounts sold, depletion and shipment objectives, and profit goals in your markets.
  • Conduct regular calls on the top accounts in the region to ensure sales execution, pricing/brand integrity, and brand building initiatives are implemented.
  • Promotes and sells all DAOU Wines to meet and/or exceed company sales quotas, while also identifying sources of new business opportunities.
  • Participate in trade and consumer tastings, to include zoom or wine dinners, for our key accounts.
  • Conduct staff training for accounts and establish a precise follow-up plan for new placements.
Administration & Analysis
  • Provide Division Manager, Northeast & Metro NY Manager with requested reports including weekly accomplishment recap, bi-weekly regional account updates, monthly top 50 account updates, work-with schedules, if applicable, etc.
  • Deploy winery resources including DAOU’s marketing and hospitality teams and tools, and our web- based VIP sales management portal and DAOU’s educational personnel.
Requirements
  • 6-10 years of experience working for a wine distributor, supplier/importer in the NY Metropolitan market.
  • Established working relationships with independent retail, and ALL-premise accounts in NY Metropolitan area.
  • Currently resides in the New York Metropolitan area.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales goals and growing distribution for premium brands like DAOU.
  • WSET certification or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Excellent presentation, public speaking and computer skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and field sales experience with an emphasis on new business development, face-to-face selling, and ability to close the sale.

Working Conditions
  • Long and irregular hours during peak seasons and special events.
  • Available for company related and overnight travel within the territory.
  • Regular working schedule to include weekdays, evenings, and some weekends.
  • Able to comfortably lift and move wine averaging 40 pounds per case.

Compensation Range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000 base salary, depending on experience. Business Development Manager level 2 experience is required.
