We are seeking a Business Development Manager to spearhead growth within Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) / Utilities. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of the distribution industry, leak detection workflows, and the ability to develop and execute strategies to position the company as a go-to provider for advanced gas leak detection solutions supporting LDCs.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Marketing and Outreach: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute effective marketing campaigns and outreach initiatives targeting the distribution market. Create compelling marketing materials, deliver presentations at industry events, and promote the company as a thought leadership in the distribution gas leak detection space.
- Industry Expertise: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies related to gas leak detection in the distribution market. Act as a subject matter expert within the organization and provide insights and guidance on market dynamics and competitive landscape.
- Partnership Development: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with key players in the distribution industry. Collaborate with partners to enhance product offerings, expand market reach, and drive adoption of the companies’ solutions.
- Market Penetration Strategy: Develop and execute a market penetration strategy tailored to the distribution market. Define market segments, identify aligned customers and outline strategies to effectively reach and engage gas utilities, positioning the company as a trusted partner for emissions management.
- Product Development: Work closely with the Research and Development teams to create distribution-specific products and enhancements. Provide industry insights and collaborate on product roadmaps, ensuring that the companies' offerings align with the evolving needs of the distribution market.
- Solution and Workflow Development: Leverage your comprehensive understanding of leak detection workflows within gas utilities. Collaborate with sales and customers to guide the use of the companies' technologies can be implemented using a technology layering approach to help customers reduce risk and manage emissions.
Required qualifications:
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related area), with a strong business background (MBA preferred).
- Ability to work cohesively with a team of internal and external scientists, engineers, executives, and support staff.
- In-depth knowledge of leak detection workflows and processes within gas utilities, including an understanding of industry standards and regulations.
- Ability to identify key stakeholders within client organizations and to interact with multiple levels and functions including R&D, ESG and Operations, from mid to executive level management.
- Passion for technology and innovation in the gas leak detection space within the distribution market.
- Strong network and existing relationships within the distribution and gas utility industry.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful market penetration strategies, targeting specific industries or market segments.
- Proven track record in business development, preferably within the distribution sector, with a focus on gas utilities and leak detection solutions.
- Experience in product development collaboration, working closely with cross-functional teams such as R&D and engineering.
- 10+ years of combined technical sales, product management, business development and other relevant experience.
Experience selling and/or delivering data products.
