Business Analyst -Data & Governance

Essential Functions

• Builds user stories with acceptance criteria for team backlog refinement and prioritization.
• Develops and manages effective working relationships with other departments, groups, or personnel with whom work must be coordinated.
• Constantly examines, develops, maintains, and updates team’s supporting documentation, standards, and guidelines. Ensures team adheres to industry standards and actively utilizes best practices.
• Be a catalyst/change agent to migrate reports from legacy systems to state-of-art BI solutions. Be a champion of evaluating, maintaining, updating, and optimizing BI solutions as well as retiring when appropriate.
• Assures integrity between data warehouse and OLTP as business rules change.
• Understanding of cloud technology (i.e., Azure services) to support the organization in migrating to cloud and in building state-of-art enterprise-wide BI solutions and reports.
• Clear understanding of the industry domain and relevant metrics to support the organizational needs.
• Develops, maintains knowledge, and exceeds expectations of the customer’s business needs as it relates to data.
• Organizes requirements into related categories to effectively manage and communicate them to various parties.
• Familiarity/Experience with the principles of business architecture i.e., to align the projects and requirements to the business strategy.
• Experience in SQL scripts, reporting & visualization techniques such as SSRS, Power BI required to understand the queries, extract the data, data quality testing, report creation etc.
• Creates and executes test strategies to verify data quality against business rules and user expectations.
• Performs analysis for production support of systems and applications, creates associated documentation and coordinates resolutions.
• Cognizant of emerging technologies, operate dynamically, propose effective data solutions and technologies into the BI solutions, where appropriate.
• Creates, reviews, and delivers end-user documentation (user guide, process flow charts, training materials) and training for accuracy.
• Gather and document requirements from stakeholders, product owner, and developers for reports, dashboards, metrices, and KPIs.
• Create source to data warehouse mapping specifications, data models, and data flow diagrams for use by data warehouse development resources.
• Awareness of Agile and SCRUM methodologies that are utilized by the organization to bring projects to fruition.

Knowledge & Skills.

• Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience working with cubes, measures, dimensions.
• Exceptional analytical, conceptual thinking, and documentation skills.
• Experience with SQL queries, reporting and visualization tools such as SSRS and Power BI.
• Experience working with cross functional teams consisting of report writers, business stakeholders, and other technical and non-technical members.
• Proven working experience as a data analyst or business analyst.
• Knowledge of data exploration, research, warehousing concepts and testing.
• Possesses an understanding of information systems, data modeling, business intelligence, relational and dimensional database design.
