Biomedical Engineer Technician – Biomed Tech 1

Under the supervision of the Clinical Engineering Manager, the Biomed Tech performs preventive maintenance, calibration, equipment repair, troubleshooting, and safety inspections of biomedical equipment as a generalist. Provides basic repair and maintenance on wide range of medical equipment. This is an entry level position with no supervisory responsibility. You will provide device repair including but not limited to external device troubleshooting, configuration & settings, power supply, and/or module level. You will perform electrical safety, functional testing, physical inspection, and scheduled parts replacement for the appropriate preventive maintenance on medical equipment in accordance to the OEM’s (original equipment manufacturers) recommendations and/or department policy. You will maintain all required records (paper or electronic) including maintaining records in Biomed and other hospital systems as needed.

In this role you can be called to repair equipment at NYP/Columbia, Morgan Stanly Children’s Hospital, the Milstein Building, NYP/ The Allen Hospital, and at affiliated outpatient clinics.

This is a full time day position, with occasional weekends located at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Preferred Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electrical Engineering

Required Criteria

• Two years of Biomedical Engineering experience or internship
• Associate’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or a minimum of five years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of patient medical devices
