Bioinformatics Analyst Jobs

The Cancer Immunogenomics (CIgx) team is seeking a contract bioinformatics analyst with over 2 years of experience (either in industry or an academic research lab during a degree) to develop software to simulate tumor-derived NGS data for immediate needs in tumor-antigen-targeting immunotherapies. These efforts are important to the success of our ongoing individualized neoantigen-directed therapies, and our off-the-shelf shared antigen-directed therapies, both currently in ESR.

Typical day:

• Reading documentation and publications that describe external tools we will be leveraging
• Running public tools and inspecting their output to sanity check it and develop a detailed understanding of it
• Writing custom code and associated documentation – developing metrics that can be used to evaluate the output of the developed tools
• This is a project-focused position, so the day-to-day will revolve around that. It will consist of:

Requirements:

• Bulk NGS data
• Great organizational and communication skills
• Preferred master's degree+ in bioinformatics/biomed eng/biochem/chem/mol bio/computer science
• Skilled in a modern open source language (e.g. Python, R, Julia) and associated stack of data/genomics-related libraries
• Comfortable in linux command line
• Statistical analysis
• Familiar with NGS data (RNAseq and/or DNAseq of any kind -- strong preference for candidates who have spent some time visualizing coverage tracks and/or digging around in BAM files)
• High degree of comfort with data wrangling, summarizing data, and performing basic statistical analyses
• Python/R/Julia
