Job Description
Performs laboratory experiments and tests utilizing instructions and/or standard methodology; interprets results and conducts analyses in support of product and process research and development.

Overview:

In this role you will be responsible for and assist with managing personnel, laboratory uptime, administering the quality system, and providing process support.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate test results and generate product test reports; Investigate product quality issues
  • Conduct lab-scale research projects as needed
  • Oversee quality systems, including BQ-9000 progrmas, FSMA, and others
  • Train personnel through the use of SOPs and Standards, and record the training
  • Participate in a proficiency testing programs, submit lab results, evaluate the final report for areas where improvement is possible, and implement change as needed
  • Evaluate lab safety issues and continuously improve safety and work with EHS personeel to ensure conformance with EPA and OSHA requirements
  • Analyze data and generate reports for the management team
  • Initiate corrective action process for nonconforming procedures and products
  • Act as the contact person for all lab issues
  • Travel to other Chevron manufacturing locations and occastional offistie meetings and/or conferences (expected travel requirement < 5%)
  • Oversee testing and ensure results are recorded per Chevron expectations
  • Perfrom and document laboratory instrument upkeep and general laboratory maintenance
  • Supervise laboratory personnel and manage inventory of laboratory supplies
  • Ensure test method performance using Statistical Quality Control (SQC) methodology
  • Evaluate potential product quality or process perfromance problems
  • Manage lab waste safely and appropriately
  • Assist with quality system, testing, and data collection projects impacting multiple Chevron manufacturing locations

Required Qualifications:

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree – physical or biological sciences, engineering, or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Access)
  • Provide perosnal contact information on an as needed basis for official business purposes
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Understanding of mulitvariate statistics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers (oral and written)
  • Ability to use office equipment (computer, copy machine, calculator, 10-key, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • I: 0-5 years related professional experience, II: 5-10 years; III: 10+ years experience
  • Be available for daily work as required

  • The anticipated pay scale grade for this position is 19 and the anticipated salary range for this position is $85,400-$128,200.
