Position Summary

Provides benefits and insurance enrollment assistance, navigation and education to virology patients. Provides ongoing education and training for staff regarding medical benefits, insurance and billing processes. Ensures billing for services is processed accurately and in a timely manner.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures insurance/benefits are accurately documented for patients in EPIC and the Statewide CM database.
  • Receives and approves Ryan White Program coverage requests and inquiries from ID faculty and staff, as well as other specialty providers.
  • Assists virology patients with their enrollment in Medicare, Medicaid, ACA Marketplace plans, sliding fee scale, patient assistance programs.
  • Ongoing training for faculty, staff and patients regarding billing, insurance, patient assistance, sliding fee scale, etc.
  • Distributes information to virology patients regarding their benefits and insurance enrollment, as well as billing.
  • Assists Senior Project Manager with the invoicing process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability and desire to educate others.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • At least moderately skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or related certification and two plus years of experience working with insurance and billing.
  • REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: CLAIM, SHIP and CAC – CAC must be obtained within 90 days of hire. SHIP and CLAIM certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance and benefits.

Salary Range

$50,600.00 - $75,800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
