NEW starting wage effective 4-30-23 of $19.61/hr!! Johnson County Mental Health is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of a full time with benefits, Behavioral Health Specialist for the Adolescent Center for Treatment. The Adolescent Center for Treatment is a substance use disorder, residential treatment program at The Recovery Place in Shawnee. The unit has 24/7 operations and typically individuals stay in the program for up to 28 days. Job will remain posted until filled.
The schedule for this position will be Thursday: noon - 8:00pm; Friday - Monday: 3:00pm - 11:00pm. This position is eligible for a shift differential specific to overnight hours($1.50/hr), weekend hours ($0.75/hr), and evening hours ($0.75/hr).
Job duties include:
- Teaches, coaches and provides guidance and support on various skills to enable productive lives of individuals; assists youth with managing their emotions, assists and supports individual treatment/recovery goals and assist youth in developing positive coping skills; develops and maintains a positive and effective relationship with service recipients, families, and other service providers.
- Provides, assists with, or coaches individuals on personal care needs with limited supervision; provides crisis interventions (including evidence based practices to maintain the safety of individuals); monitors youth interactions and behaviors; monitors medication administration as prescribed; monitors and documents mental and physical condition of individuals.
- Transports individuals receiving services to appointments, activities, and/or work.
- Organizes and participates in meetings related to care coordination; completes documentation for direct services provided to ensure timely and accurate completion.
High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working in a human services field are required. A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is preferred.
Experience working with adolescents in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
Education can substitute for experience.
Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.
Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments/agencies in a declared emergency situation.
