Job Description
  • Bachelors of Science or Arts in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred.

  • Work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds.
  • Have regular and punctual attendance.
  • Participate in professional development sessions including attending conferences and taking specialized courses.
  • Participate in team meetings and staffing for students including MTSS and IEP meetings as needed.
  • Advocate for students’ social-emotional and cognitive-behavioral skills development.
  • Sit, stand and walk for required periods of time.
  • Follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, and district-identified database program applications.
  • Use Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques with students during intense episodes or outbursts.
  • Experience working with school-age children.
  • Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
  • Provide individual and group sessions that teach and roleplay social, emotional, and behavioral skills to students identified through the MTSS Process.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and key stakeholders to develop and implement behavior intervention plans and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Use strength to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job.
  • Document in the appropriate electronic system on students' behavior, interventions, and ongoing interactions with students.
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the policies of the Board of Education.
  • Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision.
  • Speak and hear.
  • Review specific program curriculums, evidence-based strategies, and teaching behavior skills related to job responsibilities.
  • Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, technology equipment, computers, and/or controls.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean and professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, and District policies.
