Overview:
Behavior Analyst - BCBA

Designs and supervises applied behavior analysis (ABA) services for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), trains and supervises intensive behavioral intervention teams, conducts parent training services, provides behavioral consultation and school consultation services, and coordinates care with supervising Psychologists.

Responsibilities:
Demonstrated competencies in providing age- and developmentally appropriate care are indicated (*) below.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Provides direct clinical care based upon principles of applied behavior analysis to clients and caregivers (including Toddler, Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention, School Consultation, and/or Transition services) in accordance with knowledge, training and supervision. These services include treatment planning, direct clinical care, parent training, and psychoeducational/supportive services to patients and their families who are receiving services through the CASD BIP.
  • Effectively coordinates client care with other service providers and community resources to assure continuity of care.
  • Attends in-service trainings, peer review and other intra-agency and supervisory activities.
  • Serve as liaison between the CASD and the client’s other service providers and school district personnel.
  • Attends routine staff meetings.
  • Supervise Senior Behavioral Intervention Aides and Behavioral Intervention Aides through training, observations, team meetings, and pre-meetings.
  • Design applied behavior analysis intervention services for each client by assessing the client’s needs, developing goals, and designing teaching procedures.
  • Maintains productivity expectations.
  • Meets regularly with supervising Psychologist, or designee.
  • Demonstrates willingness to seek/accept direct supervision as well as respect productive feedback from colleagues and others.
  • Practices within professional areas of expertise.
  • Strives to maintain positive patient satisfaction.
  • Employs strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments and consistent with program expectations.
  • Remains current in required licensure and clinical or other training as required.
  • Completes clinical charting and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with policy standards.
  • Provides interventions in home, school and other community settings, as appropriate.
  • Train Senior Behavioral Intervention Aides and Behavioral Intervention Aides to implement designated teaching procedures by conducting team meetings and pre-meetings for each client.
  • Supports the philosophy, goals and mission of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Reporting Relationships:
  • Clinical: Works under formal clinical supervision of Psychologists with support and guidance from Clinical Supervisors.
  • Senior Behavioral Intervention Aides and Behavioral Intervention Aides work under clinical guidance of Behavioral Intervention Case Supervisor.
  • Administrative: Reports to Psychologist manager.

Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

EDUCATION:
  • Masters in psychology, behavior analysis, special education, speech/language or a related field is required.
  • Certification as a Board Certification in Behavior Analysis.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Employee must be able to drive, possess a valid driver’s license, and have use of an automobile to travel to and from client’s homes or schools and to the office for training sessions, supervision, and meetings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, peers and community representatives.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-directed and manage schedule in accordance with clinical standards.
  • At least one year, full-time as Senior Behavioral Intervention Aide or a similar position.
  • Employees must have proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities in providing and managing behavioral healthcare to children, adolescent and families; experience in providing intervention to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families.
  • 2 years of experience specializing in the care and management of autism spectrum disorders.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical requirements may include but not be restricted to strength to perform minimal lifting and ability to manage behavioral episodes, standing, walking, sitting, driving, hearing and seeing. These requirements may occur from occasional use to frequent depending on the client served.
  • Driving: Occasionally (0-33%)

  • Sitting: Constantly (67-100%)
  • Typing on a keyboard: Occasionally (0-33%)

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:

  • Intervention and care coordination experience with individuals with developmental disabilities and ASD.

CREDENTIALS:

  • Board Certification in Behavior Analysis.
