Job Purpose
The Banquet Bartender’s purpose is to prepare and serve beverages to guests in a friendly, courteous and timely manner, resulting in complete satisfaction of Edgewater guests attending the event. The Banquet Bartender will also ensure that he/she will adhere to the “pursuit of excellence” standards that the word “The Edgewater” is synonymous for.
Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Arrive at scheduled start time in appropriate uniform and ready to work.
- Expediently communicate any challenges, guest complaints or requests to the Banquet Captain.
- After function, remove inventory and all beverage equipment to proper storage.
- Read and understand all particulars of Banquet Event Orders, including start time and beverage requirements.
- Must adhere to all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to insure all laws are being followed.
- Inputs orders into the point of sale and creates a check for each guest and personnel guests, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
- Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
- Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar for each scheduled event/function, including requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections from the daily functions sheet.
- Retrieve and store bar glassware to proper storage.
- Report to Banquet Captain before starting and ending shifts.
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned by Banquet Captain/supervisor/manager.
- Polish all glassware and responsible for sanitation in and around the bar area.
- Check identification of guests ensuring alcohol is being served only to those guests of legal drinking age.
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables for each event/function to ensure product quality.
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned by Banquet Captain/supervisor/manager.

Qualifications
- Have ability to obtain any government required license or certificate.
- Ability to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50lbs.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues or complaints.
- Prior bartending experience, preferably in a high-volume banquet or hotel environment.
- Must be 21 years old
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must have excellent working knowledge of liquors, beers and wine.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers and management.
- Ability to use moderately complex computer software.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
- Must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and public holidays.
Conditions
This position operates in a full-service, professional restaurant environment. Bartenders are required to use standard restaurant equipment such as point-of-sale computers, cash registers, commercial glassware and plate ware cleaning systems, etc. are required to work in our kitchen areas as well when receiving food orders and returning dishware. This position requires evening/weekend work.

This position is very active and is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms, occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
