Role Summary

A Bartender at Vandelay Hospitality Group is responsible for providing exceptional beverage service to guests. The Bartender is expected to perform in a hospitable, efficient manner and play an integral role in ensuring our guests have an outstanding dining experience. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive and anticipatory to guests needs. Our goal is to make everyone feel welcome, comfortable, important, and relaxed, while exceeding expectations of all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute opening and closing procedures associated with assigned station.
  • Offer recommendations, take orders, and develop relationships with guests to deliver personal and notable experiences.
  • Develop and retain a complete knowledge of all food, beverage, and dietary restrictions to answer guest questions.
  • Assistants to assure guests have a valuable overall experience.
  • Maintain a high level of hospitality and professionalism with each team member and guest.
  • Ensure all orders in and out of the kitchen are accurate, on time, and of standard to guest expectations.
  • Attend Food, Wine and Team training opportunities.
  • Work seamlessly and communicate with Sommeliers, Managers, and Server.
  • Handle disputes and/or complaints with the utmost respect, professionalism, and hospitality and go above and beyond to always accommodate special request.
  • Ensure all steps of service are followed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and passion for wine, beer, and craft cocktails.
  • Positive attitude, a sense of responsibility and ownership of the position.
  • Team-oriented with a strong sense of punctuality and reliability.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and strong work ethic to keep up with high volume.
  • Understanding of classic food, wine service, pairings, and service ware.
  • 2+ years of server experience in an upscale or fine-dining high volume establishment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Appetite for creating memorable moments of hospitality for our guests.
  • Will be required to complete and pass quizzes on product/job knowledge.
  • Desire to learn and grow within the position and restaurant.
