Job Description

Cloud Infrastructure Architect provides technical leadership to the Infrastructure operations department, IT and the enterprise. Responsible for being knowledgeable of current cloud solutions and able to evaluate new tools to determine direction of future public and private cloud services (IaaS, PaaS solutions). The Cloud Infrastructure Architect will lead teams in transition to the cloud-based services from legacy on-premise implementations, including evaluation of application variability in the cloud and costs involved to meet an Always On end user experience. (including pre-migration, migration, and normal run rate costs).

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance of systems standards and operational procedures.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement solutions for migrating on-premise applications to cloud hosting solutions
  • Develop architectural strategies/solutions to ensure application high availability in both hybrid (on-premise / cloud) and fully cloud hosted applications to provide an ‘always on’ experience
  • Develop individual system & site disaster recovery solutions to address hybrid and fully cloud hosted applications to minimize customer (internal and external) down time
  • Capturing and documenting requirements for implementations, preparing financial impacts and defining technical solutions for new projects.
  • Provides leadership, oversight, and guidance to project teams & system administrators, including offshore resources, to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Assist with day-to-day administration and oversight for complex issues, and review problem reports to provide cycle of continuous improvement recommendations
  • Performs capacity planning and management for the overall technology platform.
Qualifications - External

Minimum Requirements:

College degree in a Technical or related field and 5-7 years professional level experience with 2-3 years supervisory experience for roles with supervision; or 9+ years professional level related Technical experience with 2-3 years supervisory experience for roles with supervision; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Technical experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with virtualization technologies including Solaris Containers, LDOMS & VMware (vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, DRS, vMotion, HA, FT, SRM).
  • Strong communications base (Written and Oral)
  • Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery technologies.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Architecture patterns and strategies (including IaaS, PaaS, Security, Compute, Storage and networking)
  • Functional knowledge of Infrastructure as Code – Automation using Ansible, Chef, Puppet Powershell, Terraform, etc.
  • Desired certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, Azure, MCSA, MCSE, MCTS, RHCA or VCP.
  • Working knowledge/experience with Hyperconverged platforms such as VxRail and Simplivity
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to understand complex relationships between components of multi-tiered and distributed applications.

Desired Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience required as a Senior level Administrator/Systems Engineer. Including 4 to 6 years of experience with Windows Server and/or Linux Server administration, including automating installation, performance management, system and application monitoring, patching and other maintenance tasks.
  • 3+ years of hands on experience with a leading cloud solution (prefer AWS/Azure).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related technical degree or equivalent work experience.
