Job Description
Responsibilities:
The AWS Cloud Architect will serve as a hands-on architect/engineer with experience and expertise in designing and building secure, scalable, and highly available systems within Amazon Web Services to include both new deployments and cloud migrations. The successful candidate will leverage broad knowledge of hardware, software, data, and cloud technology to architect technical solutions from business requirements and collaborate with technical staff and stakeholders to provide technical decision input and ensure adherence to security and industry cloud best practices.

What you'll do:

  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with AWS Services (Cloud formation, VPC, EC2, ECS S3, EBS, etc..).
  • Provision, configure, and maintain AWS resources using automated processes.
  • Identify risks and mitigation strategies to enable a successful modernization while maintaining timelines
  • Provide forward thinking and innovative solutions accounting for emerging technologies to propel modernization efforts forward.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with team members, leaders, customers and stakeholders
  • Anticipate internal and external challenges to be able to recommend approaches or technologies to overcome potential blockers
  • Work collaboratively with development teams and product owners to define AWS service and deployment requirements.
  • Actively and continually optimize AWS resources to ensure lowest cost while ensuring security, scalability, and high availability.
  • Design AWS implementations leveraging AWS Well Architected Framework principles.
  • Ability to learn/use a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools.
  • Experience with Docker, GitHub, Jenkins, Chef/Puppet, and Atlassian tool suite a plus.
  • Develop target architectures for all integration points and data exchange between all stakeholder systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in building APIs within AWS.
  • Trouble shoot issues across the wide range of AWS services and implemented application architecture.
  • Experience in implementing DevOps tools sets and processes.
  • Facilitate architectural governance based on best practices, as well as business and information technology strategies
  • Monitor system performance and security posture through AWS and third-party tools.
  • In collaboration with mainframe technical staff, develop solution architectures, artifacts and roadmaps to modernize legacy mainframe systems to the AWS cloud
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability in collaborating with external customers and effectively communicate at all levels of an organization
  • 5 or more years of demonstrated experience in delivering AWS solution architectures for secure, highly available and high-volume mission critical systems
  • Proficient in using creative and critical thinking skills to solve technical problems, promote recuse, and provide innovative solutions to create customer value
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing solutions that deliver customer value.
  • Must be able to achieve public trust clearance
  • A Bachelor’s Degree with at least 12 years of experience or master’s degree with at least 10 years of experience architecting enterprise solutions
  • Demonstrated experience translating business needs and requirements into comprehensive and clear architecture design artifacts
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and very strong attention to detail
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with legacy and cloud databases/storage solutions and demonstrated expertise in data migration to public cloud platforms at scale
  • Amazon Web Services Architect Certification
  • Relevant Business and IT Architecture Certifications such as TOGAF, COBIT, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) etc.
  • Familiarity with Medical Claims industry, standards, practice, and processing systems
  • Demonstrated expert engineering knowledge of legacy mainframe program languages such as COBOL and JCL along with modern languages such as Java, Python along with modern technology stacks.
  • Experience with Mainframe in place modernization practices as well as cloud migrations
