Aviation Performance Manager

The Performance Manager is responsible for Supervisor and Officer performance, as well as operational functions. He or she shall have a minimum of one (1) year management experience, with at least an associate degree in security, management, or criminal justice focus, or related field (more experience above the minimum requirements may count towards education requirements). Two (2) years Airport Security Supervisor experience may be used in lieu of one (1) year management experience, to be approved prior to assignment by the Airport Authority. The Performance Manager shall be assigned to a variety of shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Communicates directly with the Account Manager and Assistant Account Manager regarding deficiencies in Security Officer and Supervisor overall performance as required per contract.
  • Meets with client representatives as scheduled or as needed to provide assurance that all security requirements are being met and to provide quality customer service.
  • Coaches and disciplines personnel as appropriate; seeks advice from company management or designated representatives as appropriate; meets personally with employees and documents coaching and disciplinary actions.
  • As assigned, in accordance with applicable company policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal laws, carries out supervisory duties that can include some or all of the following: post work, interviewing, orienting and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and make hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Spot trains employees, reviews post orders, and other details of assignments with subordinates.
  • Completion of corrective action investigation reports (i.e., performance/testing failures. Etc.).
  • In conjunction with company management or designated representatives ensures adequate coverage of all posts and positions.
  • Inspects posts as scheduled and meets with subordinates to outline tasks and responsibilities.
  • The Performance Manager shall be proficient in the creation of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, Microsoft Office Software package, or an equivalent.
  • Direct oversight of newly assigned officers when scheduled to operate a post.
  • Coach and mentor employees.
  • After hours assistance with filling call offs and open shifts.
  • Provide on-site testing, observations, and necessary training.
  • Compiles deficiency information, testing results, and administers training into a weekly report to be shared with the Airport within forty-eight (48) hours of submission.
  • Prepares, files, reviews, and submits various reports as required.
  • Assists in the submission of scheduling and personnel information to the company as designated.
  • May perform the duties of a Security Officer in accord with post orders and company policy.
  • Functions as a manager to lead Supervisors, and other company personnel assigned to posts at client site(s); acts to ensure that all post orders are followed, that established rounds are completed, and that required reports are filed; notifies proper authorities and client in emergency situations.

Education/Experience:

  • 1 year of management experience. More experience may count towards education requirements.
  • Two (2) years Airport Security Supervisor experience may be used in lieu of one (1) year management experience.
  • Associates degree in security, management, or criminal justice focus, or related field.

WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands)

  • May be required to work overtime without advance notice.
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • On occasion may be required to perform stressful and physical activity.
  • Depending upon assignment may be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients, observe and report incidents, and direct others.
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements.
