Job Description

Marmon Water is a $700 million group of filtration focused companies and part of Marmon Holdings, Inc (www.marmon.com) - an industrial conglomerate with over 200 industrial facilities in North America and $12 billion in revenue.


Marmon Water is a global leader in water treatment with a portfolio of operating companies who together provide innovative water treatment solutions across residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The Water Group is interested in building a small central team to focus automation efforts and drive improvement at each of their manufacturing locations. The team will leverage Marmon Holdings existing automation expertise while working closely with each company’s existing engineering staff. Over the past 18 months, the Marmon Innovation and Automation group has led or assisted with factory and robotic automation projects at multiple facilities and had remarkable success. We’ve deployed dozens of new automation systems and pieces of factory equipment.


Marmon Water is looking for an Engineer to join our group to accelerate our factory automation abilities. Bring your excellent engineering and project management skills from any industry such as product design, manufacturing, construction design, or similar, and we’ll teach you the rest! We’re looking for Engineers to identify blockers, build tools, and execute on projects in the factory automation space. Everyone on the team is empowered and expected to make changes to improve the way we do things.


This role will involve 30-50% travel. Join us at one of our 3-key manufacturing locations in Delaware, Connecticut or Mississippi or work remote anywhere in the eastern USA with easy access to a substantial airport.


What You’ll Do:

  • Mentor and guide others as required. Leadership opportunities can be available if desired.
  • Use existing Marmon capital equipment implementation process to guide your workflow
  • Spearhead technology research to deliver state-of-the-art processes and designs
  • Use engineering knowledge to architect automation solutions
  • Set project goals, deliverables, and timelines. Manage the project to these goals.
  • Teach and mentor businesses to continue executing projects
  • Update and improve Marmon processes as you learn. Contribute to shared knowledge base.
  • Work across multiple facilities with separate stakeholder teams and processes.
  • Attend trade shows, vendor visits, etc., to become a rounded industry expert on current state of the art technologies and implementation strategies
  • Communicate project status to management
  • Lead 2-3 simultaneous projects implementing automation equipment.
  • Own responsibility for technical project leadership. Use prior engineering knowledge or gain new knowledge to be the project technical expert
  • Work with facility production team to process map current state and develop ideal future state
  • Build payback models and assist in writing capital requests


What You’ll Bring to the Role- Required skills, experience and education:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Automation engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering - preferred degree areas:
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Industrial/Manufacturing engineering
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functionally.
  • Comfortable in factory environments
  • 3+ years' work experience in operations project management, automation project management, or similar
  • Project management / Operations
  • 30-50% travel, domestic
  • Comfortable in ambiguous situations where requirements may be unclear
  • Knowledge of LEAN principles
