Job Summary

Essential Job Functions

• Investigates, confirms coverage, determines liability, establishes damages, reports status and negotiates the settlement of assigned cases which may include the more difficult files and which may require specialized experience (has authority to make payment of assigned claims within prescribed limits).
• Determines and reports on subrogation potential.
• Reports theft, fraud, and arson losses as required to state and industry agencies.
• Personal contacts are a major part of activity and include policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair facilities, contractors, police and fire departments, state and county fraud and arson personnel, special investigators, attorneys, expert witnesses, members of the medical profession and all other persons incident to the investigation and processing of claims.
• Adjusts all types of claims.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Initiates the sale of salvage vehicles, personal property, and miscellaneous salvage items.
• Estimates the cost of repair or replacement of damaged or stolen property and vehicles.
• Represents the Company from a public relations standpoint and must conduct oneself as a member of Management at all times.
• Inspects damaged property and vehicles, and determines claims related damage.
• Promotes safety at all times and complies with safety/ergonomic standards as outlined in relevant company-published manuals.
• Performs most duties on an individual basis, and work has a direct bearing on Management results.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or an automotive-related Associate of Applied Science degree from an accredited technical college, or the experience described below.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Requirements

• External candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of prior claims experience / 5+ years insurance estimating experience preferred.
• Internal candidates should have a minimum of 2 years prior claims experience / 5+ years insurance estimating experience preferred.
• Successful completion of the Special Claims Representative Certification process required, including all prerequisites, required tool proficiencies (that is, Xactimate, Collosus, etc. ) and exams.

Physical Actions

This role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions. Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.
