The Assistant Manager Supply Chain Management (SCM) Operations invests in the future of Southwest’s People in their Leadership and championing of their Center of Excellence (COE) Team. This Team is responsible for the operational management of the Source-To-Pay (S2P) system, processes, and policies within SCM. This Assistant Manager will help to execute system and process strategies across SCM, and they’ll be the primary liaison between SCM, Finance, and Technology on topics related to S2P. The Assistant Manager SCM Operations is excited to join an innovative space and have the opportunity to develop their People and Team. They’ll learn and grow in their expertise each day and help pilot the future of Southwest Airlines.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. Job Summary

  • Responsible for the operational management of back office support solutions across Supply Chain Management (SCM) including process optimization and development, and continuous improvement efforts. Acts as the primary liaison to all SCM and Finance Teams involved in the use, development, or integration of enterprise systems, databases or tools (e.g. SAP, Ariba, Alteryx, Tableau).

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate Leadership’s questions and prepares communication accordingly; consistently informs and communicates with key Stakeholders (e.g. presentations, reporting, and status updates)
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
  • Leads a Team with deep expertise and broad acumen to improve complex procurement processes and elevate process efficiencies, consistencies, and compliance to transform and drive procurement excellence for the benefit of Southwest Airlines.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of all enterprise systems and applications with integrations or dependencies on both existing and planned SCM systems, policies, and procedures
  • Provide subject matter expertise to buyers and Business Leadership with supplier negotiations, complex purchasing transactions, technical, legal and contractual issues
  • Provide proficient problem solving expertise via best practices; takes a lead role and is effective in facilitating discussions and resolving conflicts; trains and develops skill set within Teams
  • Foster a Team environment whereby Employees are focused on innovation and data-driven, constant improvement of technology and tools with a focus on efficiency and automation
  • Cultivate and manage cross functional relationships to identify and execute on high priority and high impact projects
  • Build market intelligence capabilities and analyze trends and solutions to support the procurement strategy

  • Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing Customer and personal services including Customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating Customer Satisfaction
  • Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Ability to see potential bottlenecks or disruptions that could potentially get in the way of keeping a schedule and shares with other Teams
  • Ability to prioritize Team’s work and meet Customers’ timelines while delivering high-quality work for internal Customers
  • Skilled in assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • System administration with various technologies (e.g. SAP ERP, SAP Ariba, database management, Alteryx, Tableau) in a business or information technology environment
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
  • Supporting Supply Chain Management operations with process optimization and development
  • Service management
  • People Leadership with focus on change management and leading a Team through process changes and continuous improvement initiatives

Licensing/Certification

  • N/A

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

  • Competitive market salary from $107,650 per year to $119,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience**. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
