Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Associate Cyber Risk Management Engineer - Vulnerability Management will log, research, validate, and track discovered vulnerabilities, perform continuous monitoring, manage the lifecycle of discovered vulnerabilities, and provide stakeholder outreach. The Associate Cyber Risk Management Engineer should have a basic understanding of vulnerability management tools, processes, and procedures. They are expected to stay updated with current advancements in cybersecurity developments and technologies. Engineers will also configure, implement, continuously improve, and maintain enterprise information security solutions, such as vulnerability scanners, vulnerability aggregators, and ticketing systems to address the business's current and emerging security needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages vulnerability scans, logs, and tracks discovered vulnerabilities in alignment with the vulnerability lifecycle.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and professionally with co-workers, management, internal and external customers, and partners. Communicates security solution features and options to various technical and non-technical audiences. Maintains communication with management regarding development within assigned responsibilities and performs special projects as required or requested.
  • Engages with security specialists, technology engineers, and other functional area specialists to ensure that enterprise technologies and security solutions are correctly configured to sufficiently mitigate identified risks and meet requirements for the enterprise, customers, partners, and vendors.
  • Continuously tracks and reports the status of vulnerability team operational and development efforts.
  • Maintains knowledge and ensures competency and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Develops working relationships with and offers support to other contributors in the information technology organization.
  • Develops reports, metrics, and dashboards for system owners, managers, directors, and executives.
  • Maintains security solutions in accordance with solution architectures. Analyzes risk exposure based on emerging and known vulnerabilities and contributes to improvement plans for existing security solutions.
  • Triages remediation tasks and assigns them to the system owner.
  • Applies root cause analysis to identify and assess issues and critical success drivers.
  • Maintains a view of IT assets and emerging vulnerabilities.
  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects. Supports and collaborates with cross-functional teams through evaluation, design analysis, and development phases.
  • Serves as a cybersecurity subject matter expert, assessing cybersecurity risks to specific solutions and identifying options and recommendations for mitigating those risks.
  • Maintains procedures and leverages tooling to enable security service delivery.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Foundational knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Splunk, Tableau).
  • A working understanding of vulnerability management processes and lifecycle.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to examine issues both strategically and analytically.
  • Ability to work on multiple, simultaneous initiatives and prioritize workload to meet commitments.
  • Ability to communicate well with people in various positions, roles, and levels.
  • History of and commitment to ethical behavior.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis against vulnerabilities and determine feasible technical solutions.
  • A working understanding of one or more information security and vulnerability management technology solutions.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Familiarity with using one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java).

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to interact well with co-workers and outside contacts
  • Ability to clearly present on technical subjects
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards relevant to the US Healthcare industry.
  • Adaptive and demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Exposure to contemporary security theory and application (including vulnerabilities, exploitation techniques and attack vectors).
  • 0+ w/Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including technical writing). Must be able to effectively communicate technical concepts to a technical audience.
  • A working understanding of one or more information security and appropriate use enforcement technology solutions including advanced malware detection/prevention, mobile device virtualization/MDM, cloud security management, structured and unstructured database encryption, mobile application and remote API security, fine-grained application authorization and access control, security event visualization, big data user and entity behavior analytics, active adversary deception, and others.
  • Able to understand moderately complex written and oral instructions

Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $70,000 - $146,600
