About our client:
Our client operates in the Financial sector, with its headquarters rooted strongly in the United States. It has its branches spread to more than 160 countries, providing employment to more than 200k people all over the world. They fall in the Top 15 largest Banks in the United States. Its core business is to provide various Banking and Financial services to its clients. It is known to have one of the biggest balance sheet banks in the world (among others) aiding it to offer 360-degree financial services to its clients.
Overview:
  • The Legal program Manager/Paralegal position will provide support for Intellectual Property and Operations & Technology Group (IP and O&T Law Group), a group of attorneys supporting all aspects of intellectual property protection for enterprise-wide and also providing legal support for varied involved in operations and technology.
  • Regular interaction with technologists and management across various business lines is expected, and well-developed and nuanced communication skills are required.
  • Regular interaction with external intellectual property counsel (especially patent) is required.
  • The Paralegal should have subject matter expertise relevant to intellectual property (especially patents).
  • The Paralegal will also have various administrative responsibilities incidental to the corporate governance of varied operations and technology entities.
  • The individual will be expected to apply analytical thinking to assist and support the IP and O&T Law Group attorneys with complex intellectual property acquisition (and related maintenance activities), and various administrative responsibilities incidental to those matters.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist lawyer(s) by investigating facts, gathering information and presentations.
  • Communicate with all levels of personnel across the enterprise and with external intellectual property (especially patent) counsel both orally and in writing (including memorandum, letters & e-mails).
  • Track and distribute information to legal and business colleagues.
  • Review, classify and route incoming communications to appropriate legal, operations departments, or external counsel.
  • Perform varied work that involves moderate initiative and responsibility, to assist in-house counsel with complex and variable matters.
  • Manage data in various legal databases and systems, including off-site secure file storage.
  • Create new records on, and updates to, internal IP database.
  • Handle all powers of attorney, declarations, and assignments for patent filings.
  • Manage the creation, execution, distribution, and storage of varied corporate governance documents.
Requirements:
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highest standards of integrity
  • Experience in the financial services industry strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently and together in a team environment
  • Excellent technical, writing, analytic and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills relating to confidential information and when dealing with customers/regulators/staff
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to review and organize numerous related documents
  • Experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, financial services industry, or related field
  • Self-motivated character
  • 5-8 years relevant experience
Education:
  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience
