Associate Offshore Surveyor Jobs

Subsea7 is looking to recruit Associate Surveyors to join our Gulf of Mexico pool and build a career in offshore subsea construction.

As an offshore surveyor for Subsea7 you will be responsible for the positioning, measurement and seabed mapping during pipe & cable installation, fixed and floating wind installations and subsea asset inspection & repair for some of the world’s leading offshore Energy projects.

This role is for you if you are;

• Enthusiastic and have a keen eye for detail and accuracy
• A recent graduate, or expect to graduate in the next 12 months in a related subject within Surveying, Geomatics, GIS or related Earth or Marine Science
• Currently working in a role that involves the measurement and mapping of the Earth or our built environment
• Have relevant skills from other industry or military experience and are looking to establish a new career

Role Overview

Joining Subsea7 as an Associate Surveyor you will receive training in the software and technologies that are deployed on our vessels and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) along with gaining first-hand experience in the offshore operations through supervised deployments to our offshore vessels.

Under the supervision of our Party Chief’s and Senior Surveyors, you will learn to operate the survey & positioning software and equipment and become familiar with the requirements of a Surveyor in the quality control of a suite of sensors including Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), acoustic positioning systems, Inertial Navigation systems (INS), Doppler Velocity Logs (DVLs), multibeam echosounders and many other ancillary sensors used to enable positioning, measurement and mapping at seabed depths of over 3000m.

Career Journey

As an Associate Surveyor you will complete your initial technical training and gain sufficient offshore experience to allow you to complete the Competence Assessment for the role of Surveyor. You will continue to develop your experience, skills and competence across a variety of vessel types and in different types of operation; working towards achieving the competence for Senior Surveyor and then up to Survey Party Chief where you would be responsible for offshore survey operations on the vessel, managing & leading the offshore survey team.

Key responsibilities:

As an Associate Surveyor you will;

• Understand and use the Survey Helpdesk and the available Global Applications & Technical support teams when required
• Set up and operate the online computer hardware, software and survey sensor suite, ensuring all survey data is of the required quality and in accordance with Client and Company specification and procedures.
• Understand and comply with the requirements on completing all mandatory quality assurance records (e.g. Survey Log Book, sensor checklists, calibration and verification records)
• Demonstrate safety awareness and ensure compliance with Subsea7 HSEQ requirements at all times and actively participate in Task Risk Assessments (TRA), Tool Box Talks (TBT) and Time Out for Safety (TOFS) when required / directed.
• Work under the supervision of Survey Party Chief or Senior Surveyor to develop knowledge & understanding of the software, sensors and techniques used offshore
• Participate and assist in the installation, setup, calibration and operation of survey and positioning equipment.
• Undertake required technical and mandatory safety training
• Review and understand project procedures and company standard operating procedures, checklists and guidelines and how they are used to control Survey & Inspection activities

Key Requirements:

• Graduating in current year, recently graduated or with other relevant industry or military experience
• Willing to travel globally
• Recognized higher education qualification in Surveying, Geomatics or relevant Earth or Marine Science preferred but no essential
• Ability to work and contribute in a team environment
• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential
