BIG TEX TRAILERS - WELDER

Location: Big Tex Trailers 20975 US-80 Wills Point, Texas 751469
Shift: 6am-4:40pm, Monday-Thursday (Friday/Saturday as needed)
Pay: $17.50+/hour, depending on experience

Job Overview

Welders prepare, weld, assemble, and inspect metal components of trailers according to SOPs, blueprints, and other instructions. Welders assist their teammates, maintain a safe and clean working environment, and complete other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Align components using fixtures, tape measure, levels, speed square, and clamps
• Prepare trailers and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Set up components for welding according to specifications
• Maintain equipment in compliance with SOP and safety requirements
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Maintain a clean environment and follow company 5S + Safety Standards
• Maintain all company quality requirements and follow company guidelines utilizing a stop-and-fix mindset
• Assist other welders to drive teamwork and efficiency
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts
• Work effectively in awkward positions while bending, stooping, kneeling, or standing to work overhead during 10-hour shift
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, and overhead)
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment, settings, and methods based on requirements

Job Qualifications

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Welding experience required - must pass MIG weld test
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 2 to 3 years of welding experience preferred
