Job Description

Confluence Investment Management is currently seeking an experienced Associate Market Strategist to join its Macro team in its St. Louis, MO, headquarters office. Confluence offers investment products to financial advisors and their clients through a variety of national and regional broker/dealers. The investment teams at Confluence specialize in asset allocation, domestic value equities, international equities, and alternative investment portfolio management. As of July 31, 2023, Confluence had more than $12.0 billion in assets under management and advisement.

Responsibilities and duties of the Associate Market Strategist include:

  • Analyze the global investment environment (including geopolitics, global economics, demographics, technological developments, economic policies, and financial market dynamics) to identify and assess investable “megatrends”
  • Provide macro-analytical support to the firm’s investment and marketing teams
  • Contribute written investment analyses and commentary to the firm’s regular thought-leadership publications, including the Daily Comment, Bi-Weekly Geopolitical Report, Bi-Weekly Asset Allocation report, along with other publications
  • Develop and deliver oral presentations to various audiences

Required Skills. The candidate we seek would have the following:

  • Highly competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills ranging from geopolitics and economics to financial markets
  • Familiarity with Eviews, Haver Analytics, Bloomberg, and FRED is a plus
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to write short-to-medium length articles quickly, clearly, and concisely on tight deadlines

Other qualifications for this position:

Bachelor’s degree in economics, international relations, history, or political science. Master’s degree is preferred. Relevant work experience, particularly in financial journalism, will be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

The position will report directly to the Chief Market Strategist and work alongside members of the Macro team. This will be an on-site position. Some travel is required.
