Job Description

Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives is an integral management team member responsible for policies and operations in the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA).Reporting to the Office of Student Financial Aid Director, the Associate Director is responsible for the day-to-day activities within the OSFA Client Service and Outreach Unit. This position handles the management, planning, organization, supervision, and administration of the daily student-facing customer service operations and staff, including nine full-time employees, six student employees, and four graduate assistants.


Working under the broad guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Education, the State of Illinois, Financial Aid Director, and Associate Director of Financial Aid, this position assures that the processing and administration of financial aid both comply with federal and state regulations and provide aid to students efficiently and equitably.The selected candidate will develop and implement an office-wide, comprehensive communication plan; oversee and manage outreach calendar,presentations and workshops,and target-specific campaigns as well as maintain financial literacy programs for prospective and current students.


Additionally, the Associate Director will also oversee the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) process and Federal Work Study program and work collaboratively with campus partners for the administration of scholarships.Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department.


Qualifications

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

1.Bachelor's degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position (Higher Education, Communication, Administration, Education Administration, or Business degrees or related fields are preferred).

2.At least seven (7) years of prior financial aid experience.

3.Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

-Have overall knowledge of satisfactory academic progress and federal work-study.

-Ability to work closely with students, faculty, and staff in order to communicate policy and regulations.

-Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

-Demonstrate the ability to work in a diverse environment.
