About The Team

This is an exceptional opportunity requires leadership to shape and influence how we provide services to our HRSS team members and drive excellence and innovation in HR. As the AD, Global HR Shared Services (HRSS) Operations, you will leverage your ability to solve complex business problems, support key operational and team engagement activities in North America, APAC and EMEA. You are a multidisciplinary end-to-end partner with a focus on operational excellence. This role calls for a balance of collaborative partnership and the ability to inspire change and influence across the team and beyond while operating with independence.


About The Role


This position will primarily focus on supporting operational activities, strategic initiatives and special projects, managing vendors and related reporting. The role will:


  • Partner with People Technology to support HRSS ESC release management (enhancements and upgrades)
  • Partner with stakeholders in People Technology, Total Rewards, Payroll, and other functions on cross-functional project work.
  • Provide operational support to the global HRSS team as needed, e.g., by supporting complex or time sensitive projects, updating shared resources and templates, organizing key team meetings and events, etc.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to support strategic initiatives, special projects, Run-The-Business and change management activities.
  • Serve as key communication liaison between regions relaying information between team leads and other team members to accelerate business outcomes.
  • Oversee the landscape of HRSS tools and resources, ensuring they perform as intended, users are trained, data integrity and compliance requirements are satisfied.
  • Partner with HRSS leaders, People Analytics, People Technology, and our stakeholders / partners to create and ensure insightful and accurate reporting and forecasting models, monitor key HRSS KPIs and dashboards and drive insights and actions.
  • Support effective recruiting, training, team building, and succession planning to help build an engaged, diverse, high-performing team.
  • Establish strong standards for ongoing training and documentation for all processes and activities within the scope of work.
  • Manage business relationships with global HRSS vendors ensuring delivery of agreed-upon support and service level agreements, and act as the point of escalation to resolve any vendor issues. Participate in annual vendor review and planning.
  • Provide project management support to HRSS strategic initiatives and special projects, including implementing new processes and policies, improving, and simplifying existing processes and tools, and collaborating with HR Change and Communications.


Basic Qualifications


  • 10+ years of relevant experience in HR/HR Operations and a BA or BS degree
  • Minimum 3+ years of related experience in Project/Program Management, OR 3+ years related experience in HR with strong operations and program management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with analytical tools
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of key HR systems/processes
  • A Master's degree can be substituted for 2 years of related experience


Preferred Qualifications


  • Ability to think creatively and exercise discretion and judgment independently
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skills are required
  • Proficiency in related technology and tools/case management, such as Workday, ServiceNow, Office365, Microsoft Visio, and OneCloud
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the company
  • Ability to build relations across various teams/countries/cultures
  • Must possess strong networking and influencing skills
  • Experience with various project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Six Sigma) a plus.

The salary range for this position is: $160,820.00 - $208,120.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
