Job Description

Position Summary: The Associate Director position is a leadership position with management and oversight responsibilities for strategic finance initiatives in the Budget Office, EVP organization and University-wide. Identify and implement business process improvements and other positive changes to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, and cost savings. Partner with the Budget Office Leadership team to set priorities for the department and coaching junior team members. Work with various University colleagues to model and develop financial plans for major new initiatives and programs. Work closely with the University's leadership to present alternative scenarios for strategic budgetary decision making. Conceptualize and coordinate the implementation of new financial reports and dashboards to support managerial decision- making at all levels across the University. Prepare and make presentations to the Vice President, the CFO, the Executive Vice President and at times, the Board of Trustees. Qualifications: Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration or related field.
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field.
Required Experience:
5+ years experience in financial planning and analysis or closely related field with responsibility for large program/functional area; proven track record of being a positive change agent.
Preferred Experience:
7+ years work experience in related field, preferably in higher education or non-profit; managerial/coaching experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong analytical skills, logical approaches to problem-solving, the ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently and effectively, professional communication skills and good judgement, and a desire and ability to take initiative, while successfully contributing to a collegial group environment. Mastery of key business and financial concepts and tools (e.g. budgets, operating expenses, capital expenses, financial statements, Microsoft Excel and other Office products, financial software suites). Ability to identify creative solutions to complex problems. Strong leader that interact and communicate effectively with senior University leaders. Inquisitive, and strong willingness to learn and search for answers and solutions. Analytical/statistical background exhibiting strong quantitative skills with capacity to draw insights, develop and communicate key messages. Modeling & financial knowledge.
Additional Information: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $130,000.00 to USD $170,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
