About the position:
The Asset-Based Lending Team based in LA is seeking an Associate/ Underwriter and Portfolio Manager. This is a critical position that provides support on the screening and underwriting of new business transactions while also assisting with the management of the portfolio.
About the department:
The Asset-Based Lending team provides senior secure financing to leveraged issuers consisting of both privately owned and public companies.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the underwriting of new business transactions with together with a Vice President and/or Director;
- Collaborate with Risk Management and Loan Operations.
- Contribute to the preparation of client marketing presentations as well as internal presentations as needed.
- Assist with KYC diligence and processing.
- Prepare operating and LBO models, comp sheets, rating models, economic return models, and collateral documents.
- Oversee maintenance of credit files and loan documentation.
- Ongoing portfolio management responsibility for a group of selected accounts – monitoring and tracking credit performance, executing amendment requests, etc;
- Assume key role in preparation of initial screening memos and credit approval packages, including due diligence, financial modeling, and credit documentation review for new transactions;
Qualifications and Competencies
Qualifications
- 3 years of relevant ABL and/or cash flow/leveraged finance experience
- Progress towards a CFA or CPA is a plus
- A Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics or closely related quantitative field
- Asset-Based Lending background not required, but is a plus
- High proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint): The individual will possess excellent excel skills and be able to expeditiously build a fully-functional dynamic, financial model
- Credit training is a positive
- Deep understanding of GAAP accounting principles and comfort with core financial statements (income statement, cash flow statement and balance sheet)
- Fundamental understanding of the capital markets and debt products

Base salary range: $120K-$155K
