REPORTS TO: Athletics Director


BASIC FUNCTION: To lead the effective development and execution of the department's marketing, promotions, ticket sales and other revenue generation opportunities. To oversee and assist with the corporate sponsorship program and coordinate the department’s special event engagements.


DUTIES/PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS


  • Responsible for the coordination, promotion and execution of the Departments special events to include the Golden Griffin Head Coach Tipoff Event, the Blue & Gold Club Golf Classic and other events as defined in the future.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of the department’s marketing and promotion campaigns on an annual basis. Ensure, where appropriate the efforts successfully coordinate with those from other campus constituents and the respective conference offices.
  • Serves as a member of the Athletics Director’s Senior Staff and participates in the administrative process of determining and working toward established Department of athletics goals.
  • Oversee the sales growth, retention and fulfillment of our Corporate Partner program.
  • Within the marketing and promotion efforts and in coordination with the Athletic Communications Staff, increase engagement and brand awareness in Western New York to increase branding, wider market reach and new and improved partnerships.
  • Conduct, on an annual basis, a review of all marketing and promotions strategies utilized during the season, measure them against established goals and recommend strategic changes and improvements for the subsequent year.
  • Develop a student engagement plan to increase awareness of and attendance at home contests including collaboration with Residence Life, Student Life and student organizations.
  • In coordination with the Athletics Communications staff, develop creative content that enhances revenue streams and the game-day experience through graphics, video content, and promotions.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales campaigns and attendance growth strategies for season tickets, individual tickets, group sales and student-attendance for basketball, hockey and men’s lacrosse.
  • Ensure an understanding of and compliance with all MAAC and NCAA rules and regulations for all supervised staff.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for all direct reports. Prepare annual goals and evaluations for all direct reports and make recommendations to the Athletics Director regarding the future employment status.
  • To coordinate the department’s merchandising efforts both on campus and off campus through the game day sales and the Griffsgear.com Advanced Online platform.
  • Create, implement and manage effective game day presentation that coordinates the game day marketing, sponsorship fulfillment and spirit squads to present a polished and positive game day atmosphere for all home athletic events.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the hiring and supervision of the Spirit Squad Coaches (cheer, dance and band)
  • Responsible for the hiring, training and supervision for the following graduate assistants:
  • Responsible for supervision of the Director of Corporate Sponsorship and Marketing Fulfillment and the Ticket Manager.


OBJECTIVES 1. To supervise the Ticket Office to achieve sales and attendance goals of:


  • Respond in a timely manner to correspondence to inquiries from Athletics Director.
  • Ensure 95% retention for all season ticket holders.
  • Increase season ticket sales in basketball by 5%.
  • To secure $200,000 in spendable income and a trade value of $50K annually from the corporate sponsorship program
  • To raise $20,000 annual through department sponsored special events
  • Ensure that all supervised areas operate within approved budget parameters.
  • Increase overall attendance by 5% annually
  • Increase student attendance by 5% annually.
  • To ensure a sellout for all home hockey and basketball contests involving local rivals.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree is required (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • 4-8 years of experience preferred

Compensation And Benefits


This is a full-time position. Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time employee’s date of hire and include – health, dental and vision insurance, life and long term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from College after one year. Paid holidays, vacation, personal leave and sick leave. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.
