The Opportunity
Reporting to the VP, you will lead the People Team’s investigative function and build out the appropriate best practices and infrastructure needed to support a best in class investigative function to ensure SNHU’s culture of promoting a climate where employees feel heard, respected and valued. You will lead a small team and have oversight over internal investigations, primarily involving University employees who allege discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct and policy violations. You will also manage your own caseload of investigations. You will ensure that all matters are investigated thoughtfully, objectively and thoroughly and that results are documented and communicated timely and with care to partners. We are looking for an established leader who is passionate about investigations and who enjoys working with high degree of collaboration.
You'll Get To:
  • Work with multiple University partners, including other members of the People Team, the University’s Legal Team, and the Title IX/Equity Officer, with a high level of collaboration.
  • Using a data-focus, review case information to identify trends and report to stakeholders periodically (at least quarterly);
  • Identify and recommend appropriate systems and requirements;
  • Identifies training needs and opportunities and can create training to groups of different sizes and in different modalities (i.e. remote/online, in-person etc.).
  • Using appropriate audit processes, ensure that investigations work aligns with processes and protocols;
  • Collaborate with University stakeholders related to informal conflict resolution, remedial action, interim measures before and during investigations, investigation activities, outcomes and further response following investigations.
  • Create SOPs, protocols, processes with appropriate Service level agreements to ensure that the investigative process is documented in writing and systematically followed by the team;
  • Ensure cases and related matters and files are tracked by the calendar and fiscal years, and ensures regular audits are conducted;
  • Create a roadmap for the People Investigation Team by building out a plan, timelines, internal infrastructure, and best practices necessary to support this growing area which ensures an inclusive and equitable environment;
  • Provide consultation and education to team and members of the University community regarding discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation concerns, and available resources for support and assistance in addressing and resolving concerns;
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • May assist with the grievance process, and specifically review grievance responses and ensure legal review and appropriate maintenance and tracking of grievance materials.
  • Oversee investigations to ensure investigative process is followed and manage your own caseload of investigations, including those that are more complex;
  • Ensure that all work promotes inclusion and equity according to SNHU’s DEI plan.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be well-versed in data base systems and software at the user level and in other HR related technologies and systems.
  • At least 5 years’ experience being in a leadership role.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Must be able to create reports having end-user to advanced skill set.
  • Master’s degree, JD, SPHR level certification.
  • Will provide a writing sample of an investigative report.
  • Highly experienced working with diverse populations.
  • Must have successful depth and breadth in a range of areas, including general HR, local, state and federal employment laws (including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and the ADA) and collaborative work dynamics in a complex organization that is shaping change.
  • Minimum of seven years of HR experience involving employee relations, which includes handling investigations and with at least 5 years’ experience being in a leadership role.
  • Must have exceptional judgment.
