Assistant Underwriter Jobs

SUMMARY:

• Review and process new and renewal business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and service standards.
• ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs).
• Referral of all business outside of pricing and underwriting authority.
• Protect the confidentiality of information learned in performing the duties of the position.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

• Understand internal procedures for proper use of forms and state notice requirements.
• Make positive contribution to customers' satisfaction and constantly strive to improve service to the customer.
• Lockton Affinity, a division of Lockton Companies located in Overland Park, Kansas, is currently hiring for a person to join the underwriting team as an Assistant Underwriter. This position will provide underwriting support by gathering and organizing information to be used for risk review and rating.
• Provide back-up for other team members within the Underwriting Department.

Qualification

• Ability to work independently and able to make decisions on your own.
• Ability to attend company, department, and team meetings as required, including industry training sessions.
• General understanding of professional liability insurance.
• Solid aptitude for mathematical proficiency.
• Ability to work overtime hours when needed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to make decisions in compliance with underwriting standards.
• Organizational and time management skills to meet time sensitive deadlines.
• Ability to efficiently organize work and manage time in order to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Products, i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of Client and company information.
• Ability to use word-processing and database software in an automated office environment.
• Legally able to work in the United States.
• Ability to work on a computer for a prolonged amount of time.
• This role is predominately based in our Overland Park office, but is eligible for the company's hybrid remote program.
