Skills and Experience:
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work performed and adherence to budget in the assigned areas of the project The Assistant Superintendent has supervisory responsibility for Field Engineers, Interns and trade labor in his/her area of responsibility
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 2 years previous commercial construction management experience is required
- Strong leadership skills
- Medium to large project experience ($20M+) is preferred
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
- Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications and scopes of work
- Strong working knowledge of programs such as Primavera, Excel, Word, and MS Project
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Bachelor’s Degree – Construction Management or Engineering preferred
- Well-rounded base of knowledge in construction disciplines
Essential Job Duties:
- Managing the billing process as it relates to work-in-place and overseeing the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices and subcontractor payment applications
- Overseeing work among assigned trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolving local area problems regarding procedures, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule
- Creating schedules and determining sequencing of work. Developing and implementing recovery strategies to maintain project schedule.
- Communicating with owners and architects/engineers in connection with field issues. Investigating and resolving such issues.
- Managing the site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with Yates standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
- Reviews cost reports and makes analysis to assist in reducing costs and maintaining productivity.
- Supervising and developing Field Engineers and/or interns, as assigned, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals
- Managing the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
- Overseeing and making decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade partner staffing levels
- Conducts regular project inspections and advises project supervision of work progress, quality of work and conditions requiring attention regarding safety.
