Assistant Professor- Construction Management

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant Professor- Construction Management at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

The Division of Engineering Technology (ET) at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Construction Management(CMT) program at the rank of Assistant Professor to start in August 2023. Successful applicants should demonstrate a potential to develop and maintain application-oriented research and to excel at teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Teaching courses in CMT program.

Engaging in scholarly activities in terms of publishing in refereed journals and conferences and seeking extramural grants.

Participating in course, curriculum, and program development.

Advising and mentoring students, providing career guidance, and supervising undergraduate research projects.

Participating in the assessment and accreditation activities.

Participating in division, college, university, and community services.

Attending and participating in scheduled departmental meetings and functions.

Participating in activities such as student registration, orientation, convocations, and commencements.

Providing other support services to the department, college and/or university, as applicable.


Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in Construction Management, or a closely related field; with thesis work and emphasis in Constructions Management, Planning or Design; with U.S. construction management industry experience and computer applications.

Evidence of successful college teaching experience in CMT or related courses including, but not limited to: VR technologies in constructions management, mechanical and electrical systems in buildings and BIM modeling.

Evidence of research participation and dissemination of research findings.

Demonstrated or has the potential to conduct scholarly activities in a CMT-related field.

Preferred qualifications:

Prior university-level teaching experience in CMT or related programs. Demonstrated industry network and interactions with the construction management industry through training, practice, service, research programs and similar partnerships. Dedication to actively providing leadership to students through student club sponsorship, competition team coaching, organizing, and implementing similar student activities.
