Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITIONResponsible for the policies and procedures related to student attendance, discipline, and activities. Assist the building principal with a variety of instructional, evaluative, and supervisory duties. Major areas of focus may include safety, students, staff, parents, curriculum and instruction, public relations, and budget.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for the overall climate of the building including the establishment of building goals and objectives that adhere to all Board of Education policy and guidelines, models the use of technology.Maintain high visibility for students, staff, and familiesPartner in meetings with student/parent/staffProvide first aid/emergency health and welfare support for students and staff.Assist the building principal in the operation of the buildings, grounds, and other school property. Provide a safe school environment through consistent monitoring of established policies and regulations including, but limited to, fire, tornado, lockdown, and evacuation procedures.
Responsible for the day to day consistent enforcement of laws, policies, and regulations as they pertain to student discipline, attendance, residency, and intervention strategies. Communicate when appropriate with community agencies such as local police, fire, and Childrens Services to protect the safety of students. Monitor and supervise students in a variety of settings during the school day. Supervise the bus unloading and loading, hallways before, between, and after classes, and lunch periods.Coordinate and attend co-curricular and extracurricular activitiesServe as the acting administrator at athletic events, club activities, concerts, and school dances.
This may include hiring staff and officials, attending meetings, writing and enforcing guidelines for participation, and scheduling activities and facilities.Assist with the development, direct supervision, and evaluation of the extracurricular programs.Assist with parent club meetings and academic events. Responsible for overseeing and monitoring fundraising activities. Follow established guidelines for the collection and deposit of fundraising dollars.Assist the building principal with staff development, curriculum development and revision, staff evaluations, budget expenditures, and continuous improvement initiatives.Assist and support all staff members in the areas of student discipline, Intervention Assistance Team recommendations, and student or parental disagreements.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, staff, and administration. Promote open, honest, and confidential communication with all constituents.The Principal may delegate additional duties/responsibilities as deemed necessary.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and understanding of the Ohio Revised Code and state requirements pertaining to the educational system, school, and student safety.Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teamwork skills.Possess a high degree of organizational skills.Demonstrates enthusiasm and a sincere desire to assist all students.Ability to communicate professionally and effectively through oral, written, and presentation communication.
Ability to solve extensive problems quickly, systematically, and effectively. Ability to demonstrate educational leadership, commitment to academic excellence, effective discipline, sensitivity to multicultural issues, and fiscal and budgetary responsibility.Knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet, database software, google suite, and current learning management systems.Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Appropriate and valid State of Ohio certification/license.Successful administrative experience preferred.At least three years of highly successful teaching experience.ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.Interaction among unruly adults/children Operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions.Repetitive hand motion, e.g. computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing.Requirement to travel, both daily and overnight.Weekend/evening/summer work.
