Position Summary

Under the direction of the Head Men’s Golf Coach, the Assistant Men’s Golf Coach is responsible for the administration of activities for the Aztec men’s golf program. The incumbent will serve as the liaison to all of the above-named offices in the Athletic Department. Will assist in organizing and administering appropriate pre-season, season, and postseason programs necessary for a quality men’s golf program.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.


Department Summary

The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 550 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following: The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Combination of two years of experience working in a Division I athletics men’s golf office.
  • Experience playing Division I collegiate golf.


Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel out of town.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present a positive image.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships on campus and in the community.
  • Ability to organize and manage all aspects of men’s golf operations including the budget.
  • Previous experience and connections with local golf courses is preferred.


Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,500 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,168 - $6,946 per month.
