The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager, Bar Manager will oversee Nest Rooftop Lounge and food and beverage areas within the hotel. They are expected to support senior leadership and all F&B Managers. This person possesses strong leadership, communication and relationship skills. This role leads other associates by coaching, giving direction and may include training, scheduling, payroll and interviewing. They must demonstrate fundamental beverage knowledge and ensure that each outlet is equipped with the essential supplies. Responsibilities may include scheduling, forecasting and training, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as all operating procedures. This person may also coordinate special events at the hotel. This position plays a significant role in the overall performance of the beverage outlets, which includes product quality and service standards.

Essential Functions:

  • The Assistant F&B/Bar Manager will act as a liaison to the beverage spaces within the property. Overseeing all public facing outlets such as bars, restaurants and banquet spaces in which any beverage is sold or consumed.
  • The Bar Manager will report to Department Head within each respective outlet while also having floor presence during service hours. Including but not limited to supervising floor managers on duty as well as floor leads, training new employees on company procedures and policies while also coaching and mentoring staff within service.
  • Oversight includes manager on duty tasks including but not limited to open and closing of restaurant and bar operations. End of day reports and inventory requisitions and pulls.
  • Creating and collaborating on new alcoholic beverages or updating existing recipes based on market research, customer and additional hotel department requests while also being mindful of Hyatt Lifestyle mandates
  • Overseeing the inventory of liquor in the bar, ordering new supplies when necessary, and organizing storage space for bottles which may also include receiving of inventory and daily or weekly counts and pulls.
  • Ensuring that customers receive prompt attention from waitstaff and bartenders that in which align with standard operating procedures pertaining to outlet and brand standards.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of bar area and equipment to ensure sanitary conditions for patrons and staff alike. Aligning all SOPs regarding cleanliness maintenance with local health code.
  • Preparing drink orders for patrons, including mixing beverages and serving them to customers.
  • Assisting in hiring, training and onboarding new bar staff while working in conjunction with management and floor leads.

  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers employees and other departments.
  • Initiate all necessary F&B-related reports according to company standards.
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled.
  • React to negative trends in market place by implementing food and beverage blitzes and promotions.
  • Help to organize and conduct monthly department meetings with Conversation and Nest team.
  • Perform P.O.S. changes in menus or additions/deletions of servers as necessary.
  • Review food sales for accuracy daily
  • Develop initiate and promote sales including up selling programs for use by all service personnel.
  • Wine/beverage knowledge in an upscale environment required
  • Ideal applicant should have strong organizational skills, ability to work with flexible work schedule, be a team player and a dynamic leader
  • Ensure that F&B employees are at all times attentive friendly helpful and courteous to guests all other employees and managers.
  • Conduct monthly beverage inventories and reconciliations.
  • Minimum of 2+ years as F&B Management preferred

  • Thompson Seattle colleagues begin accruing Vacation Time on their first day of service. At six months of service, colleagues are vested in the time they have been accruing. Full Time & Part Time Colleagues are eligible for vacation time.
  • 10 years or greater – 20 Days or 160 hours
  • Hire Date Through Four Years – 10 Days or 80 hours
  • Sick Leave:
  • Full time, part time and on-call colleagues accrue and have the right to utilize sick and safe time according to Seattle’s Paid Sick and Safe Time Ordinance. As a Tier Three employer all colleagues accrue one (1) hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked starting on their hire date, however, these colleagues cannot use their accrued sick time until they have completed 90-days of employment with Hyatt
  • Holiday Pay:
  • Full-time colleagues are eligible for holiday pay on their first day of employment. The paid holidays for eligible colleagues recognized by our hotel are: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and 2 pre-approved days for Floating Holidays.
  • Five to Nine Years – 15 Days or 120 hours
  • Extended Illness Days: unused sick and safe time in excess of 72 hours converted to Extended Illness Days at the end of each calendar year

Wage Information

Non-exempt managers: The hourly rate for this position is $31.50, annualized at $65,500.00 salary based on 40 number of hours.
