Job Description

Towson University (TU) is one of the nation’s top 100 public universities. The Assistant Director of International Admissions will evaluate international transcripts for review and admissions decisions for both undergraduate and graduate international students. In addition, this position will manage international partnerships and agents and be responsible for communication, evaluations, contract management, financial stewardship, etc. This position will also serve as a main contact for international students and provide customer service to prospective and admitted international students (freshmen, transfer, & graduate) via phone, email, in-person, or virtual meetings.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Under the direction of the Associate Director, assist with the development of a strategic international recruitment plan. Develop partnerships with university and external constituents, assist with staff trainings, and policy development/execution to ensure success within international admissions.
  • Recruitment: This position may have to assist, plan, or execute recruitment activities including virtual recruitment sessions, in-person campus visits for agents or prospective students, and other international outreach strategies.
  • Customer Service & Outreach: Represent TU by providing excellent customer service and answering questions for the international population via phone, email, in-person, and virtual meetings. Understand admissions policies and requirements for both undergraduate and graduate admissions. Provide proactive outreach to enhance application completion and yield to TU.
  • Operations: This position will process transcripts, review and evaluate transcripts to determine credit transferability, and conduct admission decisions on all international files for freshmen, transfer, & graduate students. This position will build and maintain course equivalencies articulation agreements with international partners from academic units.
  • International Partnerships: Responsible for managing all international partnerships and agents with operations, communication, contract management, financial stewardship, training, etc.
  • Complete general admissions duties including, but not limited to, customer service, applicant processing, holistic review, on-campus events, special projects, campus committees, and any other duties as assigned as needed to meet the needs of enrollment and the goals of the university.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
  • The familiarity and use of technology is critical to the success of this position and the overall operation of the Office of University Admissions.
  • The position requires excellent communication skills.
  • The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, interested in and attentive to cross-cultural communication and someone who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Must pay attention to detail and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Two years of experience.
